Why Atomic Habits Lives Up to the Hype 📚👇

I finally got around to reading the mega-bestseller Atomic Habits this summer, and as a counselor, I give it a 100% recommendation. Here is why it's worth your time:

Ditch the "Light Switch" Mindset: Lasting change isn't an overnight transformation. It happens gradually through "habit stacking"—building small, sustainable shifts into your existing routine.

Systems > Goals: Goals can create a rigid win/fail scenario that steals our joy and fades once the box is checked. True growth is process-oriented. Focus on the systems—the intentional things you do daily.

Science Meets Storytelling: The book is packed with scientific research but told through compelling stories, making it incredibly readable.

A final thought on spiritual wellness: This approach is deeply biblical. Daniel’s daily prayer rhythm and Jesus’s consistent habit of pulling away to be with the Father show us that spiritual maturity is built on a foundation of holy habits.

A couple of years ago, our therapist wrote a powerful series on the topic of Christian su***de for Vine to Branches. While it’s undeniably a heavy topic, it’s a deeply important conversation to have in today’s challenging world.

This is a 7-part series, and we’ll be sharing a new article every day this week. Here is Part 1 to get started.
