Sitting Is Not a Rest Position.
Most people think sitting down means their body is taking a break, it isn't.
Prolonged sitting compresses the lumbar discs, tightens the hip flexors, and shuts off the glutes, all at the same time. If you're at a desk for 8 hours a day, your spine is under sustained load the entire time, just in a different way than if you were on your feet.
The research on this has gotten pretty hard to ignore. Long hours of sitting are linked to disc degeneration, chronic low back pain, and even increased rates of cardiovascular disease. Your body was built to move, and when it doesn't, things start to break down.
If your back has been bothering you and you spend most of your day at a desk, that's not a coincidence.
Come in and let's take a look at what's going on. We'll give you an honest assessment of what we find.
