Sound familiar?

Maybe you've noticed your mom struggling to keep up with things around the house, or you're worried about your dad living alone. You bring it up because you care, but the conversation doesn't go quite how you hoped.

So how do you talk about getting help without making your parent feel like you're taking away their independence?

🎤🕺 Elvis has entered the building, and our Lantern residents were ALL SHOOK UP!

The King of Rock 'n' Roll made a special appearance, bringing some familiar Elvis favorites to our memory care residents. There was toe-tapping and singing along as everyone enjoyed a little rock 'n' roll!

Music can be especially meaningful for individuals living with dementia. Familiar songs can encourage participation and create opportunities for residents to connect with others, even when finding the right words isn't always easy. 🎶

We love bringing live entertainment into our residents' days, especially when it gets everyone feeling the rhythm!

For this month's Morning Pointe in Motion adventure, we explored the Green Mountain State with a sweet maple syrup tasting!

Residents had the chance to enjoy one of Vermont's best-known traditions while learning a little more about the state and its connection to maple syrup production. 🍁

That's what makes Morning Pointe in Motion so much fun. We get to explore different places and try something new without ever leaving home!

🐞🎨 Ladybugs got a colorful makeover during our latest art afternoon!

Our Lantern residents enjoyed painting watercolor ladybugs, each adding their own creative touch to these little garden favorites. It's always interesting to see how differently everyone's artwork turns out, even when they're working on the same project!

For residents living with dementia, activities like watercolor painting offer more than a chance to be creative. Holding a paintbrush and making gentle brushstrokes can help engage fine motor skills, while the calming nature of painting provides a peaceful opportunity to focus on something enjoyable.

And there's something especially rewarding about seeing a finished piece of artwork that they created themselves! ❤️

🎀 Behind every pink ribbon is a person, a family and a story that matters.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize those who have faced the disease while also encouraging the women in our lives to stay informed, talk with their healthcare providers and keep up with recommended screenings.

This October, we wear pink for them. 💗

🎤🌟 Another sold-out crowd at The Franklin Theatre came out to celebrate the incredible talent of seniors!

The 8th Annual Morning Pointe Foundation Seniors Got Talent Franklin brought 13 acts featuring performers age 60+ to the stage, each with an opportunity to share their talents with an enthusiastic Middle Tennessee audience.

Congratulations to this year's winners!
🥇 1st Place: Janie Mason, 79, ventriloquist
🥈 2nd Place: Sandy Elliott, 63, opera singer
🥉 3rd Place & People's Choice: Terry Coulter, 66, singer and fitness performer

The evening also featured the first-ever Morning Pointe Resident Art Show, recognizing the creative talents of residents across our communities.

🎨 Overall Winner: Carolyn Carter, 86, of Morning Pointe of Franklin, TN - Assisted Living, for her oil painting.
🎨 People's Choice Winner: Jean Rosenbaum, 96, of Morning Pointe of Brentwood - Assisted Living & Memory Care, for her acrylic painting.

And the impact extends well beyond the stage. More than $40,000 was raised to support the Morning Pointe Foundation's scholarships for students pursuing careers in nursing, culinary arts, social work and therapy, as well as free caregiver education for families.

For the performers, it was an opportunity to share something they love with an audience cheering them on. For future caregivers, the funds raised will help support their education and career goals.

On National Farmer’s Day, we’re especially thankful for the local farms and partners who help us bring fresh, seasonal farm-to-table ingredients into our Morning Pointe communities for residents to enjoy.

Farming is work our communities depend on, yet the people behind it don’t always get the recognition they deserve. We’re proud to work with local growers and grateful for what they contribute to our residents and the communities we call home.
