A Dream Day on the Water for LMS Resident
For many people, fishing is a pastime. For Kim, it has been a lifelong passion.
Kim, who has called Lake Minnetonka Shores home for the past seven years, recently had the opportunity to enjoy a special outing aboard a Liberty Dream, spending a day on the water doing something he has loved for most of his life.
Fishing has always been more than just catching fish. It has been a source of adventure, relaxation, friendship, and countless memories shared with family and friends. Over the years, his love of fishing has taken him around the world, including the Gulf of Mexico, Roatán, Hawaii, Florida, Canada, California, Louisiana, the Great Lakes, South Carolina, and even the South Pacific. Among his many fishing stories, one of the most memorable was catching—and releasing—a 1,000-pound marlin while fishing in Australia.
While fishing has been a constant throughout Kim's life, so has innovation. During his career, Kim founded, grew, and sold three companies that helped pioneer technology solutions for engineers and contributed to early developments in artificial intelligence. When he retired, he celebrated in a way that suited him perfectly: spending three months fishing in Australia.
In 2013, Kim was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. As the disease progressed, Kim and his wife made the difficult decision to sell their home and move to Lake Minnetonka Shores in 2019. "Moving to The Shores," as Connie affectionately calls it, "has brought many blessings." One of those blessings has been the opportunity for Kim to continue enjoying time on the water. Before moving, Kim sold his fishing boats and donated his equipment to a nonprofit organization that helps children in need. While he left behind the boats, he never left behind his love of fishing!
LMS's pontoon programming has allowed Kim to continue participating in an activity that has brought him joy throughout his life. The Liberty Dream outing made that experience even more special, giving him the opportunity to fish alongside lifelong friends and revisit some of his favorite fishing spots.
Of course, Kim admits that those secret fishing locations can't be shared with just anyone!
The Liberty Dream outing provided more than a day of fishing. It was an opportunity to reconnect with treasured memories, spend time with friends, and continue pursuing a passion that has shaped a lifetime of adventures.
Special thanks to everyone who helped make this memorable experience possible. Opportunities like these remind us how meaningful it is to support residents in continuing the activities they love and creating new memories along the way.
We are grateful to have shared this special day with Kim and look forward to hearing many more fishing stories in the years ahead!
