The best healthcare often begins long before symptoms appear.
Throughout June, Refuah Health partnered with Hatzoloh to bring free health screening drives directly into neighborhoods across Rockland County. Together, we administered well over 1,000 health screening tests, including blood pressure, diabetes (A1C), pulmonary function testing (PFT), and vital signs, bringing preventive care directly to the community.
The results highlight why these screenings matter:
• Nearly 2 out of every 3 people screened had high blood pressure readings that warranted follow-up.
• Close to 10% of A1C screenings identified prediabetes or diabetes, giving individuals the opportunity to take action early.
One conversation on our mobile perfectly captured the impact.
A gentleman came in this year for his A1C screening. As our team reviewed his results, he shared that he had been screened on the mobile last year, when we encouraged him to follow up with his doctor after his A1C came back in the Prediabetic range. Motivated to make a change, he worked closely with his physician, adopted a healthier lifestyle, and this year was thrilled to see his numbers had improved dramatically.
Stories like his remind us why we do these health drives, they're about empowering people with the knowledge to take charge of their health before small concerns become bigger ones.
A heartfelt thank you to our Refuah Health providers, nurses, volunteers, and our dedicated partners at Hatzoloh for making these community outreach events possible. Because sometimes, one simple screening can change the course of someone's health.
