Refuah Health was honored to host HRSA Administrator Thomas J. Engels and U.S. Representative Mike Lawler at our Spring Valley site. Their visit included a tour of our campus and a firsthand look at one of our mobile units, a vital resource that allows us to bring care directly into the communities we serve.

Throughout the tour, we shared the breadth of programs Refuah offers, including preventative services, specialty care, behavioral health, dental, women’s health, and community‑based initiatives that support families across Rockland and Sullivan Counties.

Administrator Engels and Congressman Lawler also joined us for a roundtable conversation about the essential role Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) play in improving access to high‑quality, affordable healthcare.

We are grateful to Congressman Lawler for his continued support of FQHCs and for helping make this visit possible.

The best healthcare often begins long before symptoms appear.

Throughout June, Refuah Health partnered with Hatzoloh to bring free health screening drives directly into neighborhoods across Rockland County. Together, we administered well over 1,000 health screening tests, including blood pressure, diabetes (A1C), pulmonary function testing (PFT), and vital signs, bringing preventive care directly to the community.

The results highlight why these screenings matter:

• Nearly 2 out of every 3 people screened had high blood pressure readings that warranted follow-up.

• Close to 10% of A1C screenings identified prediabetes or diabetes, giving individuals the opportunity to take action early.

One conversation on our mobile perfectly captured the impact.

A gentleman came in this year for his A1C screening. As our team reviewed his results, he shared that he had been screened on the mobile last year, when we encouraged him to follow up with his doctor after his A1C came back in the Prediabetic range. Motivated to make a change, he worked closely with his physician, adopted a healthier lifestyle, and this year was thrilled to see his numbers had improved dramatically.

Stories like his remind us why we do these health drives, they're about empowering people with the knowledge to take charge of their health before small concerns become bigger ones.

A heartfelt thank you to our Refuah Health providers, nurses, volunteers, and our dedicated partners at Hatzoloh for making these community outreach events possible. Because sometimes, one simple screening can change the course of someone's health.

Last week Sunday we celebrated our grand opening for our new Rt 59 location with an incredible community family fun day, a full afternoon packed with excitement, learning, and connection. Families enjoyed educational booths, fun rides, free ices, prizes, and plenty of hands‑on activities that brought health and safety to life in a meaningful way.

Our new space now features a Pediatrics group, Acute Care, and an Optical store, all in one convenient location. It was amazing to see so many neighbors explore our new offices and meet the teams behind our growing services.

A huge thank‑you to Fidelis Care for partnering with us and bringing a fantastic face painter, the line never stopped, and the smiles said it all. We’re truly grateful to Hatzoloh, Ramapo PD, and Chaverim of Rockland, for joining us and supporting our mission of community health and safety. Your presence added so much value to the day.

This celebration was a reminder of why we’re here: to serve, support, and grow with our local communities. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day unforgettable.

We were honored to host Congressman Mike Lawler at RefuahHealth Main, to recognize two of our clinical leaders as Nurse Changemakers.

Congratulations to: Fraida Soloman, RN – A pioneer in our Fertility and Maternal Fetal Medicine programs. Rena Fox, RN – A champion for expectant mothers in our Gestational Diabetic Counseling Program.

While we are incredibly proud of Fraida and Rena, this recognition is a reflection of the high standard of professional care provided by our entire nursing team. Their expertise and commitment are the backbone of everything we do.

Thank you, Congressman Lawler, for honoring the vital role our nurses play in the health of our community!

We’re thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of our new Hillcrest facility!  To mark this milestone, we proudly distributed 40+ new defibrillators to our partners at Hatzoloh—honoring their unwavering dedication and the lifesaving work they do every day.

A patient recently shared this experience with us, and it reminded our team why we do what we do because the right care at the right time can make all the difference.

"I had a needle stuck in my shoulder. As crazy as that sounds, a needle had somehow gotten stuck in the back of my shoulder and broken in two.

I came into RefuahHealth as a walk-in, anxious and concerned. I had already been seen elsewhere and was told there was nothing they could do. The needle would need to be removed under general anesthesia.

A friend had urged me to go to RefuahHealth and get a second opinion, since they had doctors experienced in emergency medicine.

I was so upset at the thought of surgery, that despite the fact that I hated trying new doctors and had never been at Refuah, I figured I had nothing to lose...

I was seen by Dr. Rosen, who carefully examined my shoulder and reviewed the X-ray images. He didn’t rush, and took his time assessing the situation. The staff was calm, confident and professional; it was evident that they knew what they were doing. Dr. Rosen took the time to explain everything to me so I shouldn’t be alarmed and told me he believed he could remove the needle safely, right there, without putting me under.

Using X-ray guidance and top-notch equipment, he made two small incisions and carefully removed both halves of the needle. He then sutured the area and made sure everything looked exactly as it should before sending me home.

I walked in expecting surgery and anesthesia. I walked out relieved, stitched up, and incredibly grateful.

Now I finally understood what my friend had been trying to tell me. With doctors specially licensed in emergency medicine like Dr. Rosen, Refuah isn’t just another clinic.

People say Refuah is lucky to have doctors like Dr. Rosen. I say, we’re lucky to have Refuah..."
