If there are rules that you have to follow, food groups you have to cut out (unless you are allergic or another medical reason), or crazy strict schedules you have to stick with in order to succeed.. it is probably a fad diet.

Our diet culture is full of the next latest and greatest diet plan, that will "help you to achieve your goals". But if you have to buy crazy products, not eat during certain times of the day, or avoid certain food groups, it is probably something that you can't maintain for the rest of your life and the results are temporary. And if you don't follow it, it often leaves you with feelings of guilt and failure.

Love this guide that a local PT posted. The pill is often a "mask" or a bandaid, not a solution. Your period should not disappear in season. If it is, let's chat about your risk for RED-S and get your fueling to optimize performance AND your health.

I was able to provide some contextual information for a recent Shape Magazine article related to chickpeas and digestion. I have to admit its pretty cool seeing my name in print =). Check out the article below for more details.

"Though it's responsible for many garbanzo bean benefits, fiber can also cause digestive distress in some people. Reason being chickpeas contain raffinose, a type of soluble fiber that's digested by gut bacteria in the colon, explains registered dietitian Ashley Marolo, R.D. Unfortunately, some folks are sensitive to this process and, in turn, experience gas, bloating, or abdominal pain after eating chickpeas. The good news? If you're using dry beans (vs. canned) you can ease these side effects by soaking them for 8 to 10 hours before cooking to reduce the raffinose, says Marolo. If you're using canned chickpeas, rinsing them first can help reduce the raffinose. You can also "cook them with herbs that relax the digestive system such as cumin, turmeric, mint, or fennel," she adds."

Hint: pretty damn healthy.
