Today, we honor Juneteenth – a powerful milestone in our nation’s history.

On June 19, 1865, freedom was proclaimed in Texas, marking the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the U.S.

While the 13th Amendment later formally abolished slavery, Juneteenth remains a symbol of liberation, resilience and hope.

At Arkansas Children’s, we proudly recognize and celebrate Juneteenth as part of our commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

Young athletes got the chance to learn from a pro when Detroit Lions wide receiver and former Arkansas Razorbacks standout Isaac TeSlaa hosted a youth football camp last month in Farmington. 🏈💙 From skill-building drills to teamwork on the field, the camp gave young players an unforgettable day of learning and competition.

A special thank you to our Arkansas Children's athletic trainers, who were on the sidelines throughout the day, providing expert care and support for participating athletes.

Arkansas Children's Sports Medicine is committed to helping young athletes stay healthy, recover from injuries and safely return to play through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. Our athletic trainers support local schools and work closely with our Sports Medicine team to ensure athletes receive the care they need, when they need it.

🍋💙 Small acts of kindness can make a big difference!

At a recent birthday party, four incredible kids – Ella, Elliott, Ellis and Maggie – set up a lemonade stand to raise money for Arkansas Children's Northwest. Together, they raised more than $100 and even donated an additional $12 from their own savings!

Their generosity and compassion will help make a difference for children and families across the region. Thank you, Ella, Elliott, Ellis and Maggie, for showing that you're never too young to make an impact!

⚾️❤️🐗 Arkansas Children's patient 9-year-old Anderson Miller threw the first pitch at a recent Arkansas Razorback Baseball game!

Diagnosed with hypogammaglobulinemia, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease (EGID), Down syndrome and anemia, Anderson has spent many nights at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW) in Springdale receiving the specialized care he needs.

Because he doesn’t have much of an immune system, Anderson receives intravenous immunoglobulin treatments at ACNW. His dad, Ron, shares, “His life has been saved and his future enabled by the brilliant minds and hands in both Springdale and Little Rock.”

Anderson is nonverbal, but according to his dad, he has "the best laugh you've ever heard," and he is rapidly learning to speak with his augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device, aka his "talker."

He loves heavy metal music, Peppa Pig and playing in water – and now he can add throwing out a first pitch at Baum-Walker Stadium to the list.

Go Anderson and Go Hogs!
