Welcome to An Insightful Perspective
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering…
“Why am I like this?”
“Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?”
“Why do I react before I’ve even had time to think?”
“Why can’t I just change?”
I want you to know something before we begin.
For more than fifteen years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I’ve listened to stories of grief, trauma, anxiety, relationship struggles, shame, loss, and incredible resilience. Although every person’s story is unique, I began noticing something remarkable.
Beneath the details, people were asking the same question.
“What’s wrong with me?”
The more I studied psychology, neuroscience, attachment, trauma, and the incredible ways our brains adapt to our experiences, the more convinced I became that this was often the wrong question, maybe it's isn't at all about what wrong but why do I show up this way? Because so many of the things we criticize ourselves for actually make sense when we learn how the brain adapts from the places we have been to try and navigate the places we will go.
Our brains are constantly learning from our experiences. They remember what has helped us survive, what has hurt us, what has brought us connection, and what has felt dangerous. Much of that learning happens outside of our conscious awareness, quietly shaping the way we think, feel, and respond long before we realize it.
That doesn’t mean we’re destined to stay the same.
It means that understanding ourselves is one of the most powerful places change can begin.
This series isn’t about finding excuses for our behavior.
It isn’t about blaming our past.
And it isn’t about convincing you that you’re broken.
It’s about helping you understand what it truly means to be human and to help find curiosity to navigate through it without the judgement.
Because when we understand why our minds and bodies respond the way they do, shame begins to lose its grip. Curiosity takes its place. And from that place of understanding, we gain something incredibly valuable:
The ability to choose.
Not because our past disappears.
But because we are no longer living as victims of a system in control- with true understanding of how our system navigates and through understanding ourselves within it- we can begin to shape our own beliefs and and design chosen outcomes.
My hope is that these lessons help you see yourself and the people around you with greater compassion, greater curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the remarkable ways the human brain has worked to "protect" us throughout our lives.
If, somewhere along the way, you begin asking not “What’s wrong with me?” but instead,
“How does this make sense?”
then this series will have accomplished exactly what I hoped it would.
I’m truly grateful you’re here.
Let’s begin this journey together.
