PCOS has a new name 👏🏻

What we used to call PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is now PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

For years, the word “polycystic” led people to believe this condition was primarily about cysts on the ovaries. Turns out, it’s not!

PMOS is a complex hormonal and metabolic condition that can affect the entire body, including menstrual cycles, ovulation, androgens, insulin and metabolic health, cardiovascular health, skin, hair, fertility, and more.

That means a woman doesn’t have to “look like” the stereotypical picture of PCOS to have a legitimate concern.

You can have PMOS and be lean.

You can have PMOS without ovarian cysts.

You can have regular periods and still have symptoms, which can change throughout different stages of life.

Women don’t all experience PMOS the same way, which is why looking at the full picture matters.

If you’re experiencing irregular cycles, acne, unwanted facial or body hair, hair thinning, difficulty ovulating or conceiving, insulin resistance, or unexplained metabolic changes, it’s worth having a deeper conversation about what’s happening hormonally and metabolically.

The name is changing, and thankfully, our understanding of women’s health is changing, too!

Here we grow again! 🙌🏻

We’re looking for a Patient Coordinator to join the 417 Integrative Medicine team.

As a Patient Coordinator, you’ll be one of the first people our patients interact with, both over the phone and when they walk through our doors. You’ll help schedule appointments, communicate with patients, answer questions, make calls, and help keep the patient experience running smoothly from day to day.

We’re looking for someone who is friendly, organized, dependable, comfortable communicating with patients, and excited to be part of a growing healthcare team.

Medical experience is required.

Think you’d be a great fit? Send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]

What if your cholesterol looks “normal”... but we’re still missing part of the picture?

A standard lipid panel gives us important information, but it doesn’t tell us everything about cardiovascular risk.

That’s why we sometimes look deeper.

Our advanced lab testing can evaluate multiple areas of cardiovascular health, including:

• Advanced lipid markers like ApoB and Lp(a)
• Ceramides and sterols
• Inflammation and oxidative stress
• Endothelial (blood vessel) function
• Metabolic markers
• Cardiac stress and clotting markers
• And 100+ genetic variants related to lipid metabolism, vascular function, inflammation, clotting, and medication response.

The goal isn't simply to find a number that's “high.”

It's to better understand what may be contributing to cardiovascular risk and where we may have an opportunity to intervene earlier.

Because cardiovascular health is about much more than your total cholesterol.

If you want a deeper look at your cardiovascular health, talk with your provider about whether advanced cardiac testing is appropriate for you.

We’re incredibly honored to be recognized as one of the Top 10 Best Places to Work in Southwest Missouri, ranking #7 among small employers.

But honestly, this recognition isn’t really about the number.

It’s about the 40 people who show up every day and make 417 what it is.
The people who care deeply about our patients.
The people who step in when someone needs help.
The people who challenge us to keep growing and doing better.
The people who laugh together, work through hard days together, celebrate the wins together, and somehow keep showing up for each other through all the busy seasons.

Five years ago, 417 was a very different place. We’ve grown, changed, learned a LOT, and made plenty of mistakes along the way. 😂 But one thing we’ve worked hard to protect is the culture and the heart behind why we started this in the first place.

People matter here.

To our team, thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for believing in what we’re building, and for caring for our patients as if they were your own family. This recognition belongs to you.

And to our patients, thank you for trusting our team with your families, your health, and your stories. You are a huge part of why we get to do what we do every day.

We’re proud of what 417 has become, but we’re even more grateful for the people who have helped us get here.

40 people. One team. One mission. And so much more ahead. 💙

The way we eat has changed a LOT over the last few generations.

We have more convenience than ever, but we’re also surrounded by highly processed foods, long ingredient lists, and food that has traveled a long way before it ever reaches our plates.

Food is information for your body. It provides the nutrients your cells need, supports your metabolism, fuels your brain, and gives your body the building blocks it needs every single day.

Pay attention to labels, make swaps when you can, and remember that what you do consistently matters far more than what you do perfectly.

Are you looking for a natural approach to healing your migraines? 🤔

Dr. Presley looks at the full picture. Your sleep, your diet, your hormones, your stress, and other factors that may be contributing to your migraines all help determine the best plan for you.

As an osteopathic physician, he can also use OMT to provide hands-on care, working with the muscles and structures of the head, neck, shoulders, and upper back to release tension, improve mobility, and help the body relax.

Migraines can be debilitating. You deserve care that looks beyond the pain and asks what may be contributing to it in the first place!

Five years of laughter, smiles, tears, growth, hard days, big wins, and a whole lot of figuring it out together.

When Emily, Kristin, and Katie joined 417 Integrative Medicine just a few months after we opened, none of us could have imagined what the next five years would hold. They stepped into something that was still very much being built, and chose to grow with us through every season.

Over these five years, their roles have changed, their responsibilities have grown, and each of them has taken on new challenges as this practice has evolved. They’ve grown right alongside 417, and their fingerprints are on so much of what we’ve become.

They’ve been here through the growing pains, the changes, the long days, the celebrations, and all the moments in between. They’ve watched this practice evolve, and they’ve played a very real and large part in making it what it is today!

We are so incredibly thankful for the three of you. Thank you for believing in what we were building, for trusting us, for sticking with us when things weren’t easy, and for giving so much of yourselves to this team and our patients.

Five years is a BIG deal. And honestly, we’re just really grateful we got to do these five years with you. 🥹

Happy 5 years, Emily, Kristin & Katie! We love you and appreciate you more than you know. ❤️🥳

We’re celebrating 4 years of Elyssa! 🎉

Elyssa, your dedication to your patients is evident in everything you do. You’re constantly learning, continuing your education, asking questions, and finding new ways to provide the best possible care.

You go above and beyond for the people you serve, and you’re just as committed to showing up for the people you work alongside every day.

We’re so thankful for the knowledge, compassion, and heart you bring to 417 Integrative Medicine. Happy 4 years! 💙

The number on the thermometer matters—but it doesn’t tell the whole story. 🌡

One of the most common questions parents ask is, “At what temperature should I bring my child in?”

The temperature is important, but there are a few other questions we want parents to consider, too:

👉 Are they drinking fluids?
👉 Are they eating anything?
👉 Are they alert and interacting with you?
👉 Are they still playing or having periods where they seem like themselves?
👉 Are they unusually difficult to wake or very lethargic?

For example, a child with a 103°F fever who is drinking, interacting, and having periods of normal activity may be less concerning than a child with a 101°F fever who is unusually lethargic or difficult to wake.

Don’t just watch the thermometer, watch your child.

The number is one piece of the puzzle. How your child is acting, drinking, breathing, and responding to you matters, too!

Raise your hand if you’re really good at taking care of everyone else… and really bad at remembering yourself. 🙋‍♀️

You make sure the kids eat breakfast, pack their lunches, fill their water bottles, and get everyone out the door with everything they need.

Meanwhile, you’re running on coffee and realizing at 2 PM that you still haven’t eaten. 😅

But here’s your reminder: you’re on the list, too.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean adding another big thing to your already-full day. Start small.

Grab something with protein before you leave the house. Fill your water bottle. Take your supplements. Sit down and eat an actual lunch instead of finishing everyone else’s leftovers.

Those little things may not feel like much in the moment, but taking care of yourself consistently adds up.

You take care of everyone else. Don’t forget that you deserve to be taken care of, too. ❤️
