Special thanks to our very own FMCC BHC, Eli Troutwine, for bringing in her therapy dog, Goose, for the residents and faculty to enjoy! She also presented to our FMOP group about substance use disorders during our weekly Behavioral Health academics while Goose helped us be well.

Enjoy an easy evening guided float at Lake Springfield from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.

Our local Walk With A Doc chapter is partnering again with our friends at The Park Board Outdoor Initiatives for another Kayak With A Doc. Learn about the health benefits of being active outdoors, as well as paddling tips from our Outdoor Initiatives experts.

The event is free and open to the public for people ages eight and up. Those between the ages of eight and 17 must have an adult with them.

Meet at the main boat ramp by the blue tarp. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are included for those who register. Equipment is limited, so registration is required. If you bring your own kayak, paddle, and life jacket, you may bypass registration. Bring friends and family with you and join the float!

This photo is from 1994 - the FMR/FMCC staff, outside the Medical Tower, looking at the west side of Cox North. So much has changed in 32 years. Notice that all the men are wearing ties! Do you see anyone you know?

Today, for Wellness Friday with our inpatient team, we took time to step away to the pond and be intentional about noticing the small things around us.

Each group chose one simple item to focus on, and everyone painted their own version of that same thing. The goal wasn't to create a perfect painting (although we have some talented artists!), rather, it was to pause, appreciate the beauty in the small and ordinary things, and notice how differently each of us sees the world.

What small, ordinary thing can you pause to notice and appreciate today?
