Ready for flu season? 🍂 Now’s a good time to get your vaccines on the calendar. Flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines each have different timing recommendations. Here’s when to get each one:

Flu: September or October is the best time to get vaccinated for the fall flu season, but it’s still a good idea to get your vaccine later in the season. The vaccine takes about two weeks to become fully effective.

COVID-19: The COVID-19 vaccine was recently updated, and with the respiratory season upon us, receiving this vaccine now will provide the best protection (assuming you received the older vaccine more than three months ago). Additional doses may be recommended based on age, vaccination history and immune status. When additional updates to the vaccine happen, immunization is recommended ASAP, but no sooner than three months after your last COVID-19 vaccine.

RSV: Eligible adults should get the RSV vaccine between August and October, or any time of year. You do not need to get an RSV vaccine every year.

Not sure which vaccines you need or when to get them? Talk with your healthcare provider.

Rural health challenges require local solutions and strong partnerships! We're proud to join Heartland Whole Health Institute and partners across Arkansas in the Rural Health Transformation Program, working to create healthier communities and improve access to care where it's needed most.

Big news for rural health in Arkansas.

Heartland Whole Health Institute is proud to convene six Arkansas health care organizations through Heartland Whole Health Connect, a new rural health initiative supported through $8.4 million from Arkansas' Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).

Together with Mercy, Community Clinic, Boston Mountain Rural Health Center, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, St. Bernards Healthcare, and Arkansas CPESN, we’ll work to expand access to primary and preventive care, strengthen chronic disease management, increase telehealth and remote care, and advance whole-person care closer to home.

We’re excited for what this investment makes possible for Arkansas and what we can learn together to help shape the future of rural health across the country.

As COVID-19 rates rise once again in our communities, please remember that Mercy still requires (and provides) medical-grade face masks at all of our patient care locations. We know it's not fun, but our goal is for our patients, co-workers and visitors to be safe any time they walk through our doors. We appreciate your help and understanding!

Please observe these guidelines while you are on our campuses.

Updated Visitor Policy at Mercy:

Starting Monday, Jan. 3, Mercy will move to an enhanced visitor policy of one visitor per patient in all hospitals, clinics and other patient care facilities. This is due to the recent rapid surge in COVID positive cases. For pediatric and obstetric patients, we will limit to two visitors. For end-of-life care, we will follow regular visitation policies. Because of potential for COVID complications, there are some patients who will not be allowed visitors. We thank our communities for supporting this decision that helps us protect patients and co-workers, and better serve all that seek care at Mercy.

To protect our patients, caregivers and communities, all Mercy co-workers will be required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by Sept. 30, 2021.

Vaccination is making a real-world impact, and it's our best defense against this virus: https://bit.ly/3AFQ8BZ.

The new requirement comes as the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly in Missouri, where Mercy has hospitals and clinics in St. Louis, Springfield, Joplin and other locations. Mercy also serves communities in Arkansas and Oklahoma, where COVID numbers are also increasing due to the ...
