A message to our patients with UnitedHealthcare insurance plans:

Our current contract with UnitedHealthcare ends Dec. 31, 2026. And we are in discussions with UnitedHealthcare, actively working toward a new agreement. However, if an agreement is not reached before Jan. 1, 2027, Mercy Health physicians, hospitals and care sites in Ohio will be considered out of network for patients covered by UHC.

For now, nothing changes. You should continue to see your Mercy Health physicians and care teams and keep any scheduled appointments.

Emergency care remains available regardless of network status. If Mercy Health becomes out-of-network with UHC, patients receiving ongoing care for certain chronic or complex conditions may qualify for Continuity of Care protections.

What you can do now:
To better understand your options and ensure your access to Mercy Health care, consider taking the following steps:
▪️ Call UnitedHealthcare at the number on the back of your insurance card to ask how your coverage could be affected.
▪️ Talk with your employer or benefits representative if you receive UHC coverage through work.
▪️ If you have a Medicare Advantage plan with UHC, you will have an opportunity to make a plan change during the Annual Enrollment Period, if necessary.
▪️ Visit https://www.mercy.com/UHCUpdates to learn more about your coverage options and ways to keep your Mercy Health care team in network.

Advancing care through innovation and expertise.

Mercy Health — Springfield recently welcomed colleagues, staff and hospital leaders for the first Grand Rounds presentation led by Dr. Edhi, board-certified gastroenterologist.

During the session, Dr. Edhi highlighted the latest advancements in gastroenterology, including endoscopic ultrasound, capsule endoscopy and emerging robot-assisted procedures. Attendees also gained valuable insights through real-world case studies and discussions focused on improving patient outcomes.

By bringing advanced technology, specialized expertise and a commitment to continuous learning to our community, Mercy Health — Springfield continues to strengthen the exceptional care patients can expect close to home.

Prostate cancer can be quiet in its early stages, but some symptoms deserve attention.

Talk with your provider if you notice changes such as a weak urine stream, frequent urination, pain or burning with urination, blood in the urine or semen, or persistent pain in the back, hips or pelvis.

These symptoms can have causes other than cancer, but they should be checked.

This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, know your risk and start the conversation with your health care provider.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we offer this prayer of remembrance, comfort and hope.

God of Peace and Mercy,
Today we remember those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. We lift up their families and loved ones, asking for your comfort and peace.
We thank you for the courage of the first responders and all who selflessly helped others in a time of great need. May their example inspire us to live with bravery, compassion and kindness.

Replace hatred with love, fear with faith and division with unity. Help us be instruments of your peace and shine your light in a world that needs hope.
