What a honor it is to serve families for multiple pregnancies. There is something so special about doing the newborn exam surrounded by your older children. The love filling the room, the excitement for the new sibling, the little hands helping out. Family centered care.

Birth story from the amazing

December 24th, 2025
The birth of Nolan Banks Sherrill

I’m so grateful to have experienced the birth that I had always dreamt of. After having an unplanned csection with my first born, I was determined to have an unmedicated water birth with my second. God willing.

Around 11pm on the 23rd I started to feel light pressure in my lower back but it wasn’t consistent enough to convince me that I was actually in labor. After about an hour of on and off lower back pain I decided to have my husband do counter pressure to help alleviate some of the pain I was having. 12:30 or so, we decided to call the midwives to let them know I was having surges about 10 minutes apart. At this point Blaine started a bath for me and I labored in the bathtub until about 4:30am when my surges were about 5-6 minutes apart. That’s when we decided to head to The Womans Way. Once we arrived there I instantly knew I wanted to labor in the shower until I was ready for the birth pool. (Warm water was a game changer as labor progressed).
I switched to the birth pool at around 7am where I continued to labor there until I gave birth at 10:49am.
While I respect modern medicine and the need for medically necessary cesareans, I also believe that women were created to give birth. My body knew when to start pushing without having to be told and without thinking about it. The urges overcame me and that’s ultimately what brought my sweet boy earth side.🤍
Nothing compares to the euphoric feeling of laying your baby on your chest for the first time. There’s no way to describe the relief and satisfaction of looking at what your body just spent 9 months nurturing and growing. 🥹Simply the best feeling in the world.

The care that I received from the ladies at The Womans Way during labor, and those sacred hours postpartum was immensely comforting.
