Meeting in the Music is a class taught by our Director of Connecting Realities and licensed music therapist, Liz Stamm. Our residents gather to listen, share, and discuss music, with this particular class focusing the song “Closer to Fine” by The Indigo Girls. 🎼 🩵

Liz opened the class by singing on the guitar and then led the discussion about how everyone interpreted the lyrics. Residents discussed how they related to the song through their personal thoughts and stories. The class ended with Liz singing the song again, this time on the piano. Residents reflected on the song, this time with different perspectives from connecting with each other. 🎹

Our Pathways Memory Support Neighborhood are for residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Designed with a homelike atmosphere in mind, residents maintain as much independence as possible while living in a safe, secure environment. Like our assisted living options, amenities such as dining, housekeeping, and laundry services are included. With 24/7 onsite nursing staff, residents are with activities of daily living in a welcoming and supportive environment. 🩺

Each neighborhood has a dedicated nurse’s station, kitchen and dining room, beauty salon, private courtyard, and more. With secured entrances for resident safety, our neighborhoods are intentionally designed like a circle, with access to courtyards and every apartment brightly lit with windows. ☀️

Neighborhoods also feature a variety of purposefully designed community spaces, each with its own focus on a specific activity like our Lucynt Table or watching a movie. Our staff work with each resident and tailor the daily routines, activities, and events to their likes and interests. Pathways Memory Support Neighborhoods are the perfect combination of nursing, amenities, and activities to create a welcoming environment paired with compassionate care.

How do you like staying active? 🎣 🏓 🚴‍♂️

Our residents engage in all kinds of physical activities—and get competitive, too! From pickle ball to group fitness to fishing (yes, it counts!), your options for staying active are endless at The Ohio Masonic Communities. Our campuses each have acres of beautiful scenery and walking trails, fitness centers, and more ways for you to get moving!

Not only is exercise beneficial for our physical health, but it’s also great for our social wellness! Taking a walk with a loved one, playing a game of corn hole, or joining a new fitness class are all great ways to socialize and engage with your community.

Known as the “Dementia Magic Table”, Lucynt Tables use innovative projector systems to create an interactive table with a variety of games and activities for residents. These accessible, cutting-edge tables project changing, interactive landscapes onto surfaces and allow residents to interact with different things. These help improve hand-eye coordination, provides physical and mental stimulation, evoke memories, and promotes resident socialization.

What does “independent living” mean at a senior living community? And why should you consider it as an older adult? 🤔

Independent living is geared towards healthy, active individuals who want to embrace a worry-free lifestyle while still living independently. 🏡

Unlike other types of senior living care like assisted living and memory support, independent living does not include care in activities of daily life. Our independent living accommodations feature two options, villas and apartments, and include the amenities of living at one of our campuses. Being an independent living resident is a great way to connect and thrive in a new community!

June 15th is the last day to RSVP for our intergenerational day camps! 🙌

🕖 When - June 19th from 7:30am-3pm
🏡 Where - Browning Masonic Community, 8883 Browning Drive, Waterville, OH 43566

Children ages 5-18 are invited to attend! Intergenerational day camps create memories that will last a lifetime. The Masonic Youth Outreach Program (MYOP) embraces the importance of intergenerational activities and enhancing the quality of life for The Ohio Masonic Communities’ (OMC) residents. Intergenerational day camps allow youth to build relationships with OMC residents, teaching youth valuable skills they’ll have for a lifetime and greatly impacting the lives of our residents. Events are open to the children grandchildren of campus staff and residents, and all youth in the community. A portion of funding for this event is thanks to a generous grant from The Christ Foundation.

To register, or for more information about these events or our back-to-school program, contact Rachel Lancaster today at (877) 881-1623 (Ext 4) or [email protected]. Make sure to RSVP by June 15th!
