Teachers play a big role in how safe a student feels when speaking. When a student stutters in class:
✅ Give them time to finish unless otherwise asked
✅ Keep natural eye contact
✅ Address teasing immediately
✅ Ask privately what support feels helpful
✅ Offer choices when possible, especially for presentations or reading aloud
A student who stutters should not be protected from every speaking opportunity, but they also should not be forced into situations without support.
