🩺 2026 Skills Fairs Are Underway! 🎯
Our first of four 2026 Skills Fairs brought learning to life at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center! With creative educational boards, engaging activities, and hands-on learning opportunities, our team members are refreshing important skills and knowledge to support safe, high-quality patient care. The main goal focused on: Zero Harm.
A big thank-you to Ashlea Austin, Staff Development Manager, for organizing a successful event that brought learning, engagement, and team spirit together. All staff are required to attend at least one of the four sessions to complete their annual competencies, giving everyone an opportunity to participate and learn.
🦠 Did you know? C. diff (Clostridioides difficile), a bacterium that can cause serious intestinal infections, can survive on surfaces for five months (sometimes longer)! That’s one reason proper cleaning and infection prevention practices are so important in healthcare settings.
🦭 A special shout-out to Renee DeHass, Director of Quality & Risk, who brought some extra fun to the fair by dressing up as a seal representing The Joint Commission Seal! A creative way to bring attention to quality, safety, and accreditation.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Skills Fair a success! We look forward to the next sessions as we continue learning, growing, and keeping patient safety at the forefront of everything we do.
