Wishing all our wonderful families at Pediatric Associates of Springfield a happy, safe, and restful Labor Day weekend!
Whether you’re spending the long weekend at the pool, grilling in the backyard, or exploring local parks, check out these quick safety reminders to keep your family protected:
🌊 Water Safety: Assign a dedicated adult "Water Watcher" whenever kids are in or near water—put phones away and focus entirely on the pool or lake. Make sure weak swimmers and boaters wear properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets.
☀️ Sun Protection: Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen at least 15 minutes before heading outside, and reapply every 2 hours (or right after swimming/sweating).
🐝 Bug & Tick Prevention: Use insect repellent containing DEET (10% to 30%) or Picaridin for children older than 2 months. Remember to do a tick check after outdoor play in grassy areas!
🔥 Grill Safety: Keep children at least 3 feet away from hot grills and fire pits, and never leave cooking areas unattended.
