From community stews to the nutrient-packed variety on trays today, school lunch has come a long way.

Today, June 4th, marks the anniversary of the National School Lunch Act, signed into law in 1946. This legislation permanently changed the educational landscape by recognizing that student wellness and academic success go hand in hand.

When you eat breakfast or lunch in our cafeteria, you are directly connected to this major piece of history! Here in Fairfax County, we are proud to carry this mission forward. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals made to fuel bright futures and support student growth.

Summer Meals Are Coming Soon!☀️

School may be out, but healthy meals are still on the menu! Starting June 22, Fairfax County Public Schools will provide no-cost breakfast and lunch meals to children and teens at participating Summer Food Service Program sites.

🥪 Free meals for kids and teens
📅 Beginning June 22
📍 Multiple locations across Fairfax County
✅ No registration required

Additional sites will be added throughout the summer, so be sure to check back for updates!

Raise a hand (or chicken leg) if you loved lunch! 🍗

Braddock Elementary School's Pre-K class shared how much they loved the Sweet Thai Chili Drumstick yesterday. Safe to say, it’s officially Pre-K approved! Big thanks to our amazing cafeteria staff for keeping our littlest learners fueled.

Summer meals are coming soon! Starting Monday, June 22, no-cost meals will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis at the sites and times listed on the FCPS Summer Food Service Program webpage. Students must remain on-site while eating their meals.

This year, thanks to generous support from Educate Fairfax, families may also receive one no-cost breakfast and lunch per adult at the following elementary schools: Braddock, Dogwood, Glen Forest, Hutchison, Hybla Valley, and London Towne.
