Have you ever heard of CVI? If not, you're not alone. CVI stands for cortical visual impairment, and it has been the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the U.S. since the 1990s. Here's what makes it different. CVI is a brain-based impairment that affects visual processing. Children with CVI see what we see, but the brain cannot interpret it. It's not an issue with the eyes themselves; it's how the brain processes what the eyes are seeing.

If your child isn't making eye contact the way you'd expect, seems to look past people, or struggles to respond to visual cues, a comprehensive eye exam is a great place to start. We can check whether the eyes are functioning properly and if everything looks structurally healthy. Back to school season means textbooks, screens, and hours of close-up reading. For a lot of students, that also means headaches. If your student has been dealing with frequent headaches, eye strain, or trouble focusing while studying, the cause might not be what you think.

Today we’re celebrating Heather and her first year as our Office Manager! With an incredible 14 years of experience, Heather brings knowledge, dedication, and a heart for both our patients and her work family every single day.

Heather truly works in every area of the office and is always willing to jump in wherever she is needed. She loves helping our patients and supporting her coworkers, making sure things keep moving behind the scenes.

She may not always be seen, but she is definitely heard! From the inner office, Heather is constantly working, problem-solving, organizing, helping, and taking care of things in more ways than most people realize.

She loves to laugh, sing, and somehow manages to keep things interesting even in the middle of a hectic day! 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲:

Help us congratulate our amazing Lead Optician, Angie, on 3 wonderful years with Springfield Eye Specialists and over 40 combined years of experience!

Angie has been with us from the very beginning, helping our practice grow and bringing her knowledge, dedication, humor, and BIG love for glasses and people to work every day!

She has a way of making our patients feel welcome and cared for, taking the time to help them find "just the right pair", she keeps us laughing with her whimsical cat with glasses pictures and a laugh that is heard throughout the office , and always being someone, the team can count on. We are so thankful for everything she brings to Springfield Eye Specialists and for the heart she puts into what she does. She is always there for our patients and for her fellow coworkers and would be lost without her. We love you, Angie!
