Illinois Assistive Technology Program - IATP IATP is the non-profit organization designated as the Statewide Assistive Technology Program.

What we do

Our mission is to provide Illinoisans of all ages with disabilities and health conditions greater access to assistive technology devices and services so that they may enhance their independence and participation in all aspects of life. To achieve this, we offer numerous assistive technology programs and services to learn about and try AT devices, financial loans to purchase AT, training, technical assistance, and a variety of contracted services including professional AT evaluations. We provide expertise in assistive technology and accessible information technology to:

• All Illinois residents of all ages with disabilities and/or health conditions including family members, friends, and caregivers

• Professional service providers in aging, community living, early childhood, education, employment, health care, veteran’s services, and other social services

• Community, Social, and Youth Organizations

• Large and small businesses

• State Agencies and local governments

Vendor Spotlight - Sangamon County TRIAD

TRIAD is a partnership which involves Senior Citizens, Law Enforcement agencies, and Support/Protective Services who agree to work together. Their primary goals are to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and enhance the delivery of services to this population. TRIAD provides the opportunity for an exchange of information between law enforcement, support service, and senior citizens. It focuses on reducing unwarranted fear of crime and improving the quality of life for seniors. TRIAD is tailored to meet the needs of each community and can be an integral part of community policing.

IATP’s Open House and Resource Fair is one week away! Planning to bring your gently used durable medical equipment (DME) for drop-off? The drop-off point will be on the south side of the IATP building off of West Miller Street.

The DME donations will increase IATP’s Reuse Program inventory, therefore helping more individuals throughout the community. The DME drive also promotes sustainability by giving valuable equipment a second life. Governor Pritzker has proclaimed October 2026 Assistive Technology Month in Illinois. He encourages all residents to learn how assistive technologies support the health, independence, and happiness of our friends, neighbors, family members, and co-workers with disabilities. IATP is excited to have Speaker of the House Emanuel Welch here on Monday, October 26th, to read the proclamation at the start of our Open House and Resource Fair at 9 a.m.
