Today, we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a beautiful reminder of the hope that is at the heart of our Catholic faith.

At Calvary Cemetery, we are reminded each day that death is not the end. Mary's Assumption into Heaven points us to the promise of the Resurrection and the eternal life won for us through Jesus Christ.

As we honor Our Blessed Mother, let us ask for her intercession for our families, for those who mourn, and for all the faithful departed entrusted to God's loving care.

Our Lady, assumed into Heaven, pray for us.

Why do Catholics have cemeteries?

Catholic cemeteries are sacred grounds where we honor the dignity of every person and remember the hope we share in Christ’s Resurrection.

It is a place of prayer, remembrance, and connection between generations. Here, the faithful gather to pray, reflect, and celebrate the lives of those who have gone before us, while the faithful departed rest in peace as we await the promise of eternal life.

Catholic cemeteries remind us that death is not the end of our story, but a moment we entrust to God’s loving care.
