We are so proud of our instructor, Evelyn Smith, for becoming Miss District of Columbia 2026! Her mission is spreading the message of heart health and the importance of CPR training. Join us in rooting for her in the upcoming Miss American pageant! https://missdc.org/meet-miss-dc-2026
"Evelyn Smith is a CPR instructor, heart health advocate, and marketing operations professional working at one of the nation's top lobbying firms, Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, and Schreck. After using her emergency response training to help save her mother during a heart attack, Evelyn transformed that moment into a mission through her initiative, Have a Heart, Save a Life. She has since certified over 1,000 individuals in CPR, partnered with public safety agencies, and led community education efforts focused on increasing emergency preparedness.

As a third-generation cardiac patient, Evelyn is especially committed to addressing disparities in cardiac care for women and expanding confidence in bystander response. She plans to pursue a Doctorate in Women's Health and a career in healthcare policy, using legislation to make life-saving education more accessible across communities."
