⛳️💗 What an incredible way to tee up support for cancer care.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is incredibly grateful to Air Liquide for selecting us as the beneficiary of this year’s Tee Up Fore Life Golf Tournament at Carter Plantation.

In the first year of this partnership, the event raised an amazing $224,500+ to support Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales and help strengthen care for patients and families across the Ascension community.

We’re especially thankful to everyone who helped make the tournament possible, from the Air Liquide team and sponsors to the golfers and supporters who came together for such a meaningful cause.

This partnership is a powerful example of what can happen when a community rallies around a shared mission. We are honored to be part of it and deeply grateful for Air Liquide’s commitment to advancing cancer care close to home.

Thank you for helping us make a lasting impact. 💕

A day dedicated to health, early detection and the Northshore community. 🙌

Live Well Northshore, presented by the Ben Blanchard Foundation, brought free cancer screenings to the Covington Trailhead, giving community members an opportunity to take charge of their health while staying close to home.

This year, 128 participants received 228 cancer screenings. Of those who participated, 40% had never been screened before, a powerful reminder of why bringing screenings directly into the community matters.

📸 Take a look back at some of our favorite moments from the day!

Thank you to our incredible sponsors for making Live Well Northshore possible!

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center has taken a unique path in an era of healthcare consolidation.

A new Greater Baton Rouge Business Report feature explores how Mary Bird Perkins has maintained its independence as a nonprofit organization focused exclusively on cancer care while building a growing network of partnerships with hospitals and healthcare organizations across Louisiana.

That model allows Mary Bird Perkins to concentrate its resources on outpatient cancer care while working with partners that provide access to services such as operating rooms, emergency departments and inpatient facilities. Some partnerships are primarily facility-based, while others include deeper financial and governance collaboration.

Our President and CEO, Dr. Jonas Fontenot, says that kind of independent, cancer-focused model has become increasingly rare nationwide:
“We’re always capable of accomplishing more when we work together with a partner.”

That collaborative approach has helped Mary Bird Perkins expand access to cancer care while remaining focused on its mission and maintaining its independence.

Clinical trials shape the future of cancer care. And for local patients, bringing an innovative cancer treatment closer to home can make a meaningful difference. 🔬💙

This National Pharmacy Week, we're highlighting the specialized pharmacy team helping make that possible at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Our dedicated research pharmacy supports clinical trials by safely managing investigational medications, complex treatment plans and the strict protocols required to bring emerging cancer therapies to patients.

💊 Our research pharmacy currently supports active clinical trials at our Essen, Covington and Metairie locations.

Their work happens largely behind the scenes, but its impact can reach patients today while helping shape cancer treatment for the future.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: your reminder to know when you should be screened. 🎗️

For women at average risk, annual clinical breast exams and mammograms are recommended starting at age 40. If you have a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors, talk with your healthcare provider about whether you may need additional or earlier screening.

Screening can help find breast cancer before symptoms appear, when there may be more options for successful treatment. 🩷

💡 Knowing your risk, what changes to watch for and when to get screened can help you take a more active role in your breast health.

💗 October is here, and it’s time to GEAUX PINK!

All month long, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is inviting our communities to come together in support of those impacted by cancer.

Whether you wear pink, host a fundraiser, rally your workplace, school or team, or simply help spread the word, every effort can make a meaningful difference for patients and families.

Geaux Pink is about showing support, raising awareness and standing together with those facing cancer, right here in the communities we call home.

💕 Join us this October and help make an impact.

09/09/2026

During GYN Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminding women that changes in their health are worth paying attention to, and that getting answers may start with asking more questions.

If you’ve received a diagnosis, have concerns about persistent symptoms or simply want another perspective on your care, seeking a second opinion can help you feel more informed and confident about your next steps.

At Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, you can connect directly with one of our physicians to discuss your diagnosis, treatment options or concerns. A referral is not always required to start that conversation. If something doesn’t feel right, or if you’d like another expert perspective, don’t wait to take the next step.

To make an appointment with one of our physicians, visit the link in the first comment.

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day. 🎗️

At Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, we join communities across the country in honoring the strength, resilience and hope of cancer survivors.

Behind every survivor is a journey filled with challenges, milestones, courage and the support of loved ones who walked beside them along the way.

Today, we celebrate the survivors in our community and recognize the incredible strength they show every day. Their stories remind us why this work matters and inspire us to continue bringing compassionate, patient-centered cancer care close to home.

To every survivor: thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. We celebrate you today and every day. 💝

For our first Melanoma Monday, we’re sharing a powerful reminder of why early detection matters. 💛

When Trudie Jarreau visited Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center's Prevention on the Go mobile medical unit for a free mammogram, she never expected that mentioning a small spot on her neck would lead to a diagnosis that could save her life. With support from our team and patient navigation services, she was able to get answers and begin the follow-up care she needed.

🎗️ Her story is a meaningful reminder not to ignore changes in your skin and not to put off getting screened.
