Social Security Administration has approved an increase to the fee agreements allowed under the Social Security Act to $9,200.00 (an increase of $2,000.00) beginning November 30, 2024.

Re: Social Security Disability Income ("SSDI") and Supplemental Security Income ("SSI")

SSDI and SSI are both federally funded programs designed to provide benefits to the qualifying disabled individual. SSDI is funded by Social Security taxes under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act ("F**A") or Self-Employment Contributions Act ("SECA"). SSI is funded by the US Treasury's general funds.

An individual filing a SSDI claim must have a medical condition that meets the SSA's definition of disability and have had a sufficient work history to be awarded benefits. The monthly maximum for SSDI in 2024 is $3,822.00.

Individuals who do not have a sufficient work history may be eligible for SSI when they are either 65 years of age or older, have a qualifying disability or blindness. The maximum monthly benefit for SSI in 2024 is $943.00 for an individual and $1,415.00 for a couple.

Family and Survivor benefits are programs that pay benefits to eligible family members if the deceased paid Social Security taxes before death.
