Choose Your Smile 😊

Sometimes therapy is about changing what we can control—our perspective, our thoughts, our reactions, and the way we choose to move forward.

You may not be able to change the weather around you, but you can still look for a little sunshine. ☀️

A gentle reminder: You don’t have to feel happy all the time. But even on cloudy days, there can be room for hope, connection, and a small step toward feeling better. 💛

💥 When anxiety feels like THIS…

Sometimes our thoughts, worries, and emotions can pile up until everything feels tangled, overwhelming and explosive.

💥 “BOOM! BLAST YOUR FEELINGS”
A Therapy Game
This Boom Blast Therapy Game turns that experience into an opportunity to pause, talk, identify emotions, practice coping skills, challenge anxious thoughts, and learn how to reset when things feel like they’re falling apart. 🧠💛

🎯 Notice it.
🧘 Calm it.
💭 Challenge it.
🛠️ Cope with it.
🌱 Move through it.

And when the tower falls? We reset—not fail. 💥➡️🔄

Because learning to manage anxiety isn’t about making it disappear. It’s about building the skills to handle it when it shows up.

You Can't Pour From an Empty Cup: Recognizing Self-Neglect as a Parent

You remember your child's doctor's appointment, pack everyone's lunches, keep the household running, and somehow still wonder why you're completely exhausted. Then you realize it's been hours since you drank a glass of water, you skipped lunch again, and you can't remember the last time you did something just for yourself.

Self-neglect as a parent doesn't always look dramatic—it often hides in the small sacrifices that become daily habits. It can look like ignoring your own hunger, pushing through constant exhaustion, canceling your own appointments, never asking for help, feeling guilty for resting, or believing everyone else's needs should always come first. While your love for your family is beautiful, you were never meant to disappear in the process of caring for them. Your children don't just need a caregiver who gets everything done—they need one who is physically, mentally, and emotionally cared for, too.

Self-care doesn't have to be expensive or take hours out of your day to make a difference. It might look like drinking a full glass of water before your morning coffee, taking a 10-minute walk outside, eating a nourishing meal without multitasking, asking someone to watch the kids while you shower, or taking five quiet minutes to breathe before the evening rush begins. Protect your sleep when you can, say "yes" when help is offered, and remember that asking for support is a sign of strength, not failure.

The way you care for yourself teaches your children how to care for themselves one day. When they see you honoring your own needs with compassion, they learn that self-care isn't selfish—it's a healthy part of being human. The healthiest families aren't built by parents who never need a break, but by parents who understand that caring for themselves is one of the most loving things they can do for the people who depend on them.
