"Hi, I’m Cassandra (she/her)! I’m a doula, mother, artist, small business owner, and advocate committed to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with steady, compassionate care. My work is rooted in informed choice, emotional safety, and respect for each person’s values, culture, and lived experience.
My interest in birthwork first began when I was pregnant, taking private childbirth classes with Sarah at Purple Lotus Doulas with my husband in preparation for our homebirth. That interest turned into a passion after going through my own birth on January 11th, 2024. I experienced an unexpected and purely physiologic birth in my bedroom, with my grandmother catching my daughter. That moment was truly life changing.
In the early postpartum days, I felt overwhelmed and carried unexpected grief. Even though I successfully gave birth at home, it did not unfold the way I had prepared for or envisioned. I planned and paid in full for my midwife’s care and a home water birth and I expected to labor with that support and setting in place. Instead, my labor moved so quickly that I gave birth in my bedroom before I could get to the pool, and my midwife arrived about 15 minutes after my daughter was born. I felt deep gratitude for a safe birth and for the powerful moment of my grandmother catching my baby, while also feeling disappointed and tender about the parts I had hoped for that I didn’t get to experience. In time, through processing and reflection, I came to understand my birth experience as transformative, raw, and deeply meaningful. That experience continues to shape how I support my clients, especially when birth unfolds differently than planned.
A year after my daughter was born, I pursued professional doula training through Purple Lotus Doulas as well, developing my skills and deepening my commitment to this work.
I view birthwork as sacred activism. I believe every family deserves dignified, culturally sensitive, and accessible birth support, including families from different backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. I am passionate about reducing barriers to care, strengthening community support, creating a safe environment and helping clients feel confident in their options and decisions.
My approach is client-centered and holistic. I blend practical support with energy work, movement, creativity, and other grounded wellness tools, always tailored to what feels supportive and aligned for each individual person. I am honored to be working with Purple Lotus Doulas and committed to ongoing learning.
