Sometimes birth looks like a laboring mother moving through contractions. Sometimes it looks like a planned cesarean. Sometimes it’s an unexpected change in plans after hours of labor.
My role isn’t to judge the way a baby is born. My role is to support the mother through her birth experience.
With cesarean births, doula support can look like helping parents prepare emotionally and mentally, explaining what to expect, offering comfort before and after surgery, supporting the partner, encouraging bonding, helping with feeding, and providing postpartum support during recovery.
There is no “less than” birth.
There is no failure in changing the birth plan.
There is only a mother who deserves to feel safe, respected, supported, and empowered.
Every birth deserves a doula. Every mother deserves a village. 🤎
