There are two more testing periods this year, if you are pursuing or renewing paraoptometric certification.

The late registration deadline for the August 8-22 cycle is July 10, 2026. The November 7-21, 2026 registration deadline is September 25, 2026 with late applications being accepted through October 9, 2026.

Paraoptometrics who are due to renew their certification this year must have earned all the required credits by midnight on October 31, 2026 and submit their credits and fee by November 1, 2026. Late renewals are accepted through December 31, 2026 when the education was earned before the October 31, 2026 deadline, and with the late renewal fee.

The candidate handbook and the 2026 certification renewal guidelines for CPOs, CPOAs, and CPOTs as well as the renewal guidelines for paraoptometrics who hold the specialty coding certification, CPOC documents will be updated in the fall for 2027 and are always available on the AOA website: https://www.aoa.org/.../commission-on-paraoptometric...
