It is fascinating to me the way that these men are aware of the ways that their lives have felt more full, but generally not as disrupted and can name that their wives experience extensive disruption, loneliness, no space for themselves, and judgment from everyone around them. But noticing and being aware is not enough. What are these men doing to balance the dynamic within their relationship so they can experience a little more adjustment a little more adaptation to take some of the struggle off of the plate of their partners? I know that fourth trimester and early first year/baby it can be very disruptive to the equilibrium of the relationship so my hope is that these men being aware means that as baby gets older they’re able to take on more and allow their wife more space.

Some of us learned early that being “the responsible one” was the safest role to play.

When your needs were overlooked or the adults around you were overwhelmed you may have become the helper, the fixer, and the one who always held it together.

What once helped you survive can become exhausting in adulthood.

In this clip, we talk about how overfunctioning often starts as an adaptation and why it can be so hard to put that burden down.

Guys! It’s launch day! Time to let you in on my secret. I’m a podcaster now!

One of my colleagues and I decided to start a podcast for women who carry a lot. It’s called over functioning and it’s exactly what the topic is about what it’s like to carry a lot and what it’s like to do too much all the time and how to try to set a few things down. Our hope is that women like us feel seen and heard and feel able to have conversations that usually are not welcome to have. Women are treated like they’re complaining or ungrateful if they also talk about feeling overwhelmed. Or treated like maybe they could just do better and that’s not OK so we’re gonna talk about it.

I am literally so excited. I’ve been bursting to tell you about it. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Hi, I’m Brittanie. I am a therapist, overthinker, cycle breaker, business owner, mom, and someone who deeply understands what it feels like to look like you have it all together while quietly struggling underneath it all.

I work with women who are carrying a lot: the mental load, emotional labor, caregiving, grief, masking, and the pressure to keep functioning no matter how exhausted they are. Many of my clients are high-achieving, sensitive, creative women navigating ADHD, anxiety, burnout, parenting stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and grief in all its forms including the quiet kinds people don’t always recognize or talk about.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, holistic, and deeply human. You do not need to earn rest before you deserve support.

This page will be a mix of therapy insights, grief support, nervous system education, boundaries, ADHD-friendly strategies, burnout recovery, honest conversations, and probably a little dark humor too.

Glad you’re here. 🤍
