Todays activity is about perspective. The colored dots represent the event and the different things the dot can become represents different perspectives on that event.
Perspective shifting is a useful skill because it helps:
• Build empathy
• Lower unnecessary guilt and shame
• Helps with understanding
• Allows us to grow
We are rewriting the narrative that our perspective has!
• Our friend canceled plans because they are tired and didn't sleep well. They dont hate us or are tired of us. Weve had to cancel before too.
• Our partner is upset because we said something that hurt them. That doesn't mean they dont love us, but it does mean they're upset with us and our actions
• Our parent is fearful that we will get hurt if we travel to another state by ourselves. Its nit that they dont trust us and they just want some reassurance.
Sometimes taking another's Perspective is hard, especially when we feel hurt by the person. Note that we are allowed to feel hurt, and also understand why they took the action they took.
So take perspective, shift the narrative, rewrite the story.
