August can bring a lot of shifting routines, responsibilities, and expectations. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is notice what feels harder than it needs to be.

We may not need a whole new plan. We may just need to make one thing easier, reconsider one automatic yes, create one dependable moment in the day, or ask ourselves what would make this week feel more manageable for me. Small adjustments can make a real difference.

This week I am thinking less about pushing until and more about noticing what helps us feel supported, connected, and well.

What is one thing you can give yourself this week that you’ve been needing?

I've been a bit quiet here lately (I know).

Sometimes stepping back gives us room to breathe, listen, recenter, and reconnect with ourselves. We do not always have to remain visible, available, or explain our quiet moments.

Sometimes, peace matters more than being seen. đź’›

We all experience difficult emotions. The goal is not to avoid them. The goal is to learn how to respond to them in ways that reflect what matters most.

Today I had the privilege to honest conversations about what it takes to seek support and the challenges that make the journey difficult for individuals and families. Behind each segment of conversation is a person, a family, and a story. All deserving of dignity, compassion, and understanding.

Creating space to listen without judgement does not solve every challenge. However, it is often where understanding begins.

As Maya Angelou wisely said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Today was a reminder that doing better begins with listening and holding space.

Our lives are continuously shaped by the decisions we each day. Before the evening ends, take a moment to reflect on one choice you made that reflected your values today. Often it is the small and intentional decsions we make that move us closer to where want to be.

After school, I had a hard time finding work. Landing The Young and the Restless was a turning point for me. Soon after, I was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

Winning it was so overwhelming that I got on stage and immediately started crying. But somehow, across all of those seats in the audience, I looked up and locked eyes with .

She didn’t say a word, and she didn’t have to. Her face said it all: Chin up. Tighten up. Maintain your composure... and I did just that.

She probably doesn’t even remember this, but I’ll never forget it. She taught me that you can celebrate your victories and still stand tall. She reminded me that I deserved to be there.
