What started as countless conversations about the gaps we see new moms and babies facing has officially turned into a course that .ashley.williams and I have spent the last 8 months building from the ground up ❤️ As a pediatric physical therapist, a pelvic floor physical therapist and moms ourselves, we keep seeing the same thing over and over again:

👎 Moms not getting the support they deserve.
👎 Babies struggling because parents aren’t given the help they need.
👎 Families just trying to survive vs enjoying their weeks home with baby

So we created something to help fill that gap: ✨Mama & Me: The First Weeks Home✨ An online course designed to guide both mom and baby through the postpartum transition with expert support, practical education, and simple strategies you can actually use in real life from both a pelvic floor AND pediatric physical therapist. We’re so excited to finally start sharing it with you!

🚨 Official launch date: July 1st 🚨

Be sure to follow along over the next few weeks for sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes content, and enrollment details. Tag an expecting mama, new mom, or someone who deserves more support in postpartum 💕

To most people, it’s just play. To me as a pediatric physical therapist and milestone coach, it’s a window into how a child moves, learns, explores, and grows💜

That’s the beauty of pediatric physical therapy and working with Dr Alyssa. It’s not just looking at milestones or checking the boxes, it’s looking at the whole child and helping them truly reach their goals ✨

Hi, I’m Dr. Alyssa, pediatric physical therapist, milestone coach, and mom of 2 (soon to be 3)!

At Together in Motion Therapy, I help babies, children, and families build confidence through movement, play, and connection. Because some of the most important developmental work doesn’t happen at in a small therapy room, it happens right in the middle of play.

If you’re here because you want to better understand your child’s development, movement, or milestones, you’re in the right place. Be sure to follow along for more real-life, empowering ways to support your child and your family ✨

I’m a pediatric pelvic floor physical therapist… and my own toddler started withholding a few weeks ago💩 🙃 Even with all of my training, it reminded me that withholding is rarely just about poop… It’s often a cycle of fear, stress, pelvic floor tension, and learned patterns that can feel impossible to break.

Instead of focusing only on getting my toddler to go, I started looking at why their body was holding on in the first place. These are some of the strategies that helped us and the same concepts I use with families every day!!

If you’re in the thick of potty struggles, constipation, or withholding, know that you’re not alone ♥️

Be sure to save this for later, and send me a DM if you’d like help figuring out what’s really going on beneath the surface.

before we ask kids to move… we have to ask if they feel safe enough to try 🤍 so often, we jump straight to:
“how do i get them to roll?”
“why won’t they sit?”
“they hate tummy time…”

but if their body feels unsure, rushed, or caught off guard, movement will feel like something to resist ‼️⚠️ not because they can’t do it, but because it doesn’t feel safe yet. This is why connection comes first. every. single. time.

→ eye contact + your voice
→ slow, predictable touch
→ gentle introduction to movement

that’s what builds trust
that’s what builds confidence
that’s what actually leads to progress

and honestly… it changes everything about how play feels for both of you. If your child has ever fought you during play or new movements, you’re not doing it wrong, you just might need a different starting point 🩷

✨ if you want help making movement feel easier (and actually work), i’d love to support your family

Learning everyday skills and independence doesn’t have to be complicated or boring! Grab a hula hoop, some cardboard stepping stones (or even chalk circles on the driveway), and suddenly you’re working on all of these important skills all while your toddler thinks they’re just playing 😍:

✨ Balance on foot
✨ Coordination between legs
✨ Body awareness
✨ Visually attending to things in their environment (huge for decreasing tripping!!)
✨ Motor planning
✨ Problem solving
✨ Confidence

Whether they’re learning to put their pants on by themselves, stepping over obstacles without tripping, balancing on one foot, or building the strength and coordination needed for stairs, play is often the best teacher.

Save this idea for a rainy day, summer afternoon, or anytime your little one needs to get their wiggles out while building real-life skills! Be sure to check out for some of mine and my kids favorite interactive learning mats ♥️

A baby crying during tummy time, a toddler refusing an activity, or a child having a meltdown isn’t usually them being “difficult.” I t’s them telling us something the only way they know how.

That’s why I don’t believe in forcing children through activities. I believe in getting curious, finding the root cause, and adapting the environment or activity to help them feel successful.

Trust is the foundation of everything I do. When children feel safe, understood, and supported, progress follows 💛

The behavior isn’t the problem, it’s the clue!

If I had a crisp Dr Pepper for everyone time I’ve had a parent tell me “I wish we would have gotten help sooner,” I’d have a lot Dr Peppers 🤪 It’s not because they ignored the signs, or that they weren’t paying attention but because they weren’t sure if they should bring it up, ask again how to get help, or trust their gut.

If you’ve ever left an appointment thinking, “I wish I would’ve said something…” this post is for you! As a mom and clinician who works closely with families of all ages, I’m here to remind you that you don’t need the perfect words, you don’t need to be 100% sure, you just need to start the conversation.

You know your child best, don’t forget that 💜 be sure to save this post for your visit!

Baby’s don’t just go from months of laying to sitting on their own one day… they need to have a balance of protective reactions (aka catching themselves with their hands to the sides), core strength to prevent falling backwards, and coordination to do all of this together! Noticing something missing and they just keep face planting? It could be time for a little bit of extra help from a pediatric specializing physical therapist!

I’m Dr Alyssa, pediatric physical therapist, mom of 2 (soon to be 3), and owner of Together in Motion Therapy in St Louis, MO. Be sure to follow along for more tips, tricks, and things to look out for as your child develops! Looking for a little bit of extra help? Send me a DM and let’s chat! ♥️
