Spring tea in the garden! Today from 2-5 pm EST at The Source for Healing I’m sharing teas from the private 1,000 year old gardens of Mr Sun on Mt Mengding in Southern China. We’ll talk about tea, its cultivation and history, and enjoy the flavor, sense and spirit of these ancient tea bushes together.
I think sitting and drinking tea is more important than ever before. Call me an idealist or a romantic - but people are lonely and depressed, and don’t feel connected to community. Tea is a simple practical way to facilitate this connection. This a good way to feel better in body, mind and spirit. This is a way for everyone to feel in greater communion with the living Qi of the Earth.
My offering of tea in the garden is an invitation into deep love for the tea, for the communal spirit, to become present and quiet with one another. It f you’re in the Hudson Valley and feel a call to join us, Dm me right away. This will be a first of more to come.
— Seven Bowls of Tea - Lu Tong (卢仝), Tang Dynasty (790–835 CE)
The first bowl moistens my lips and throat. The second breaks my loneliness. The third searches the dry rivulets of my soul and finds therein five thousand scrolls. The fourth raises a light perspiration —all life’s inequities pass out through my pores. The fifth purifies my flesh and bones. The sixth calls me to the immortals. The seventh — I need not drink. I am only aware of a pure wind rising beneath my two arms.
