Happy New Year and NO I didnât retire, lol. I heard that vicious rumor again. If and when that that time comes, I will let everyone know. It is also assumed that due to my lack of presence on social media.
Patients ask me frequently when I am going to retire. My answer is always this, âmy office and my patients are âmy purpose and what would I do if I didnât do this?â. I have seen 4 generations of one family, 3 of others and many mothers and daughters. Nothing is greater than this. The community has trusted me with their womenâs healthcare for over 25 years and I thank all for that.
I must admit, in this healthcare climate, it is getting financially more difficult every year. Solo practices are being forced to join larger corporations to make ends meet. Itâs corporate against corporate and itâs the patients that lose. Providers in that industry are given a time limit to see patients. That is so disappointing. No provider goes into this industry thinking that they are going to have to work piece-meal or that patients are a ânumberâ. They get limited time to talk to a patient. There is no better way to get to know a patient than by just having a conversation. We learn so much by that. Yâall know how I like to talk, lol, maybe too much sometimes, sorry about that.
To be able to continue to operate in the way I always have, I must complete most of the administrative tasks, accounting, ordering, credentialing, licensing, etc and for the past 13 months, the medical billing.
I found during the billing process, that this is not for me. I get so annoyed, frustrated and angry at the insurance industry. I get offended and my feelings hurt when I send out bills for âpatient responsibilitiesâ and they donât even get acknowledged. I plan on giving this up this new year because I donât have it in me to do this.
So to make a short story long, I did NOT retire and this is the reason my social media is almost nonexistent and I donât have a website because there are not enough hours in a day to manage these pages.
Happy New Year.
