Think standing all day is better for your back than sitting? 🧍‍♂️

Not necessarily.

Researchers found that low back pain increased after about 60 minutes of standing, regardless of whether participants stood on a hard or soft surface, used insoles, or changed between static and dynamic standing.

The takeaway? Your body likes variety. If your job requires prolonged standing, make it a point to change positions, take movement breaks, and avoid staying in any one posture for too long.

Looking down at your phone more than you'd like to admit? 📱

It happens to all of us. The good news? Research suggests that two simple exercise approaches can help improve posture, reduce neck pain, and improve function.

Whether it's pulling your shoulder blades together or doing chin tucks, both strategies can be effective parts of a program designed to address posture-related pain.

And don't forget the basics: take frequent breaks from your phone, perform your exercises consistently, and make time to move throughout the day.

Should you get an injection for your shoulder pain? 💉

Maybe. But should it be your first stop?

A recent review found that hands-on therapy and exercise provided greater pain relief than several common shoulder injections for tendon pain at both 3 and 6 months.

That means less pain at rest, during activity, and at night.

If shoulder pain is keeping you from doing the things you enjoy, schedule an appointment with our clinic. We will find the right combination of exercise, hands-on treatment, and a personalized rehab plan to help you!

Could your diet be contributing to your migraines? 🧠🍞

A recent study found that adults who got more than 51% of their calories from carbohydrates were more likely to report severe headaches or migraines.

Does that mean carbs cause migraines? Not necessarily.

But it does add to the growing evidence that what we eat may influence migraine symptoms for some people.

The challenge is that migraine triggers are highly individual. For one person, it might be stress. For another, it could be poor sleep, certain foods, dehydration, or a combination of factors. ⚖️

That's why managing migraines often requires looking at the bigger picture.

Take a look at this list to see if any of the foods in your diet could be contributing to your migraines. https://chiroup.short.gy/nExgmF

Most people think numbness and tingling in the hand is caused by a pinched nerve. ✋

But the story may be more complicated.

A recent study found that factors such as smoking, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and arthritis were associated with a greater risk of developing a neuropathy.

Researchers also found that people who exercised regularly were less likely to develop the condition and less likely to require surgery.

This study reminds us that nerve health can be influenced by factors beyond the area where symptoms are felt.

Don't let hand numbness interfere with work, exercise, or hobbies. Getting the right diagnosis is the first step toward recovery.

One of the biggest fears after a car accident is: "What if this pain never goes away?" 🚗

The good news is that a recent study found that most people did not develop a new chronic pain condition after a whiplash injury.

However, about 23% did, highlighting the importance of early assessment and treatment.

Recovery after whiplash isn't always just about the neck. Physical, psychological, and social factors can all influence outcomes.

Your shoulder and hand may be more connected than you think. 🤝

Researchers recently found that people who underwent shoulder replacement surgery were more likely to develop carpal tunnel syndrome on the same side within the following year.

This doesn't mean shoulder surgery causes carpal tunnel syndrome.

But it does remind us that new symptoms in one area of the body can sometimes be related to changes in other areas.

If you've noticed numbness, tingling, or weakness in your hand following shoulder surgery, don't ignore it. An evaluation can help determine what's going on and what treatment options may help.
