The Rowan Center began in a trailer behind Stamford hospital, started by a group of volunteers who wanted to help victims of sexual violence. 40 years later, we are an agency of professionals working to help victims and survivors through crises, and delivering prevention education to nearly 20,000 people a year. Our services include: 24-hour crisis hotlines, individual crisis counseling, support/e

Our clinicians work from the understanding that trauma can affect different people differently, from how they feel in their bodies, how they relate to others, and how safe the world feels.

Join State Representative Lucy Dathan, CEO of PEHT : Partnership to End Human Trafficking Jamie Manirikiza, CEO of The Rowan Center Sharon Walker Epps, and Sergeant Steven Murphy from the Stamford Police Department for an important discussion on the impact of human trafficking across Connecticut and in our community.

The Understanding Human Trafficking in Our Community Panel will take place on Thursday, June 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Dudley N. Williams, Jr. Auditorium at Ferguson Library (1 Public Library Plaza).

Last weekend, The Rowan Center's CEO, Sharon Walker Epps, was named the 2026 Local Empowerer at Ready to Empower's Keys to Empowerment event. The evening featured dueling pianos, an amazing auction, dancing, and a shared commitment to mental health support. As part of the presentation, founder and President Amanda Ready and Vice President Olivia Skiffington presented Sharon with this special award.
