🎉 It's CNA Appreciation Week, and we’re celebrating all the Certified Nursing Assistants at MCHC.

CNAs bring comfort, compassion, and strength to every shift. From helping with daily needs to offering reassurance and noticing the small changes that matter, you make patients and residents feel safe, supported, and truly cared for.

To all our CNAs: THANK YOU for your dedication, your kindness, and the difference you make every single day. You are truly the heart of hands-on care!

Global Maintenance Day

Today we’re saying a big THANK YOU to the maintenance teams at MCHC who keep everything running. They may work behind the scenes, but they make a huge impact.

From keeping facilities safe and comfortable to responding quickly when something breaks, maintenance is essential to providing quality healthcare.

💙 We appreciate your hard work, problem-solving, and dedication every single day!

✨ Healthcare Executives Appreciation Week: June 6-12 ✨

This week, we celebrate the leaders who keep healthcare moving forward. Here at MCHC, that perfectly describes Steph Everett.

As CEO, Steph’s commitment to compassionate care, strong teams, and a healthier community helps shape the vision behind everything we do — supporting patients, families, and staff every day.

👏 Thank you, Steph, for your steady leadership, dedication, and heart for our community.

National First Aid and AED Awareness Week — June 1-7

In an emergency, your quick action can save a life. Knowing CPR, basic first aid, and how to use an AED can make all the difference while help is on the way.

This week, take some time to:
❤️ Schedule a class to refresh your first aid skills (see below for one option)
❤️ Learn where AEDs are located at work/school/community spaces
❤️ Encourage friends & family to get trained

If you are not CPR Certified and would like to be, the American Red Cross offers both online and in-person certification courses. Check them out here: https://rdcrss.org/2M0xLyp

Small skills. Big impact. You never know when someone will need you.

Our final Mental Health provider spotlight for this month:

Tara Schaefer-Nygaard, LCSW joined our team in 2023. And we're so excited to also introduce, 🐶 Tank and 🐶 Sammie, who will be joining her shortly here in Stanley.

Tank is an Olde English Bulldog who has completed his Canine Good Citizenship basic and required visits for the Alliance of Therapy Dogs to become a Certified Therapy Dog. Don’t let his size fool you, he has a soft heart and loves to spend time with others. He will melt you with his puppy dog eyes as he awaits pets and love! Tank is always excited to come to work and meet new people and when he feels he has done his job well, he takes a good nap. We couldn’t be happier to have Tank join our team!

Sammie is a Lab/Beagle mix who has completed Canine Good Citizenship basic and advanced. She was a morale dog for a security forces squadron at Minot Air Force Base for almost two years and then took a break from work. She is completing her required visits for the Alliance of Therapy Dogs to be a Certified Therapy Dog and will often compete with her brother Tank to go to work! Sammie love meeting new people and as she has gotten a little older, she has learned to enjoy the art of napping almost as much as her brother! We are excited for Sammie to complete her journey to becoming Certified so she too can join us during our visits.

💙 Both Tank and Sammie will be traveling with Tara to Stanley on Wednesday’s and they will include visits to the nursing home while they are in town. We look forward to meeting residents and staff alike! While we make efforts to visit as many people as possible, we hope that once a month visit will bring a little sunshine to those we get to greet!

At MCHC, our mental health team is here to support you. If you or someone you know is struggling, contact the clinic at 701-628-2424 to schedule an appointment with one of these team members.

Need immediate help? Call or text 988 (24/7).

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and today is "Don't Fry Day" — a reminder to protect your skin when you're outdoors!

It's estimated that 9,500 people in the U.S. receive a skin cancer diagnosis EVERY DAY. Take care of your skin by wearing sunscreen when you're outside, and keep an eye out for the ABCDEs of Skin Cancer:

⭕ Asymmetry: One half of a mole or lesion does not match the other half.
⭕ Border: A mole or lesion has irregular, scalloped, or poorly defined edges.
⭕ Color: Varying colors within the same spot, such as shades of tan, brown, or black, or areas of white, red, or blue.
⭕ Diameter: While melanomas are usually larger than 6 millimeters (about the size of a pencil eraser), they can be smaller when diagnosed.
⭕ Evolving: A mole or lesion looks different from the rest or is changing in size, shape, or color.

These criteria are all potential signs of skin cancers. If you notice them it's important to seek the care of a doctor.

Don't wait — call the clinic at 701-628-2424 to make an appointment.
