May invites us to pause, breathe, and remember that caring for our mental and emotional well‑being is just as important as caring for our physical health. In our work, we see every day how deeply people carry their stories — their joys, their burdens, their grief, and their resilience.

This month, we stand with our community in recognizing that healing takes time, support matters, and no one should ever feel they have to walk through difficult seasons alone.

To anyone navigating loss, stress, or quiet struggles of the heart:
You are seen. You are valued. You deserve compassion — from others and from yourself.

Let’s use this month to check in on one another, speak kindly to ourselves, and create space for rest, reflection, and hope.

With care, from all of us at Carothers Funeral Homes

My name is Mandy Williams, and I serve as the General Manager of our two cemeteries (Hillcrest Gardens and Gaston Memorial Park) and three funeral homes (Carothers in Gastonia, Dallas and Stanley). I knew as early as the fifth grade that the funeral profession was my calling, and I’ve felt honored to serve families ever since.

Walking alongside families during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives is a responsibility I never take lightly. It means so much to me to create a space where loved ones can share stories, celebrate a life well lived, and even find moments of laughter in the midst of grief.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading psychological thrillers, watching comedy shows, hiking the Appalachian trail, and spending time with my husband- who is also in the profession- our family, and our very spoiled fur baby, Stella.

On this Mother’s Day, we pause to celebrate the women who have shaped our lives with love, strength, and quiet wisdom. Whether they are with us or held close in memory, their influence lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry, and the love we continue to share.

For those who are missing a mother, a grandmother, or a mother‑figure today, we hold you gently in our thoughts. Grief can feel heavier on days like this, and it’s okay to honor your feelings in whatever way brings you comfort.

May today be a reminder that a mother’s love never leaves us — it continues in the lives we lead and the hearts we touch.

From all of us at Carothers Funeral Homes, we wish you peace, comfort, and moments of tenderness this Mother’s Day.
