✝️ Chapel this past Thursday was presented by Pastor Byron Lindbo and residents were also blessed by the presence of his wife, Pastor Sheila Lindbo.

✝️ Residents always enjoy Pastor Lindbo's message and he often connects a North Dakota story to his message.

✝️ Pastor Lindbo brought his guitar this time and sang...such a blessing. Residents are already requesting a repeat!

✝️ All of our chapel volunteers take time to visit with our residents and this act of kindness makes their day.

✝️ Thank you, Pastor Byron and Pastor Sheila for always being willing to bring the Good News to MBH.

🍨The Taste of Homemade🍨

This was our dessert for bingo today.

🥄Often our bingo time at MBH includes the serving of a homemade dessert. One favorite that never fails to delight is homemade baked rice custard. Fresh from the oven, its golden brown top glistens invitingly, lightly sprinkled with cinnamon. Beneath that beautiful top lies a rich creamy custard, top this with a splash of cream and you will have comfort in every spoonful.

On this day, the warm oven, the scent of cinnamon filled the activity room with inviting aroma that had residents saying "oh it smells wonderful in here... what is baking in the oven?"

🥄What makes these experiences even more special is the presentation. The rice custard is carefully served in an elegant parfait-style glassware, each dish placed upon a glass plate adorned with a delicate, colorful doily and accompanied by a "real" spoon and a colorful napkin.

🥄The thoughtful attention to detail transforms a simple dessert into an occasion, evoking memories of a time when meals were prepared with care and served with pride.

🥄These moments always bring a story or two and reminds us that food is about so much more than nourishment. A homemade dessert can transport someone back to the childhood kitchen, potlucks at church ....places and experiences that shaped their lives.

🥄Here at MBH we make an effort to connect our residents through food, memories, and presentation, this extra effort creates powerful moments that bring comfort, joy and a sense of being well cared for. These are the moments that truly assist in making a difference and give residents a sense of belonging.

🎨Painting is a great way to relax and to express yourself. Recently, our residents enjoyed a delightful painting activity centered on the cheerful beauty of snapdragons.

🎨As colorful blossoms were created by our residents. Each resident created a unique and beautiful painting, with every artwork reflecting the individual personality, style, and color choice. From bold, vibrant to delicate pastel shades, no two paintings were alike, making the display a wonderful celebration of self-expression.

🎨As residents painted, lively conversations flow throughout the room. Several residents were curious about how snapdragons received their unusual name. They enjoyed learning that the flowers are said to resemble the face of a dragon that appears to open and close its mouth when gently squeezed.

🎨Others fondly recalled planting snapdragons in their own gardens. Stories of tending flower beds, sharing cut flowers with neighbors, and watching colorful tall blooms sway in the summer breeze brought back cherished memories. It is wonder when residents can connect with one another through shared experiences.

🎨It was great to hear several men talk about their appreciation for flowers. One residents recalled seeing a brides bouquet done mainly in snapdragons. Snapdragons are know for the grace and strength due to their tall sturdy stems. Our residents are also full of grace, and their strength comes forth each day ...... as they continue to flourish and enjoy life at MBH.

☎️Stevie and Addie share in a moment of joy and friendship. Nail day is more than simply painting fingernails. It is a time to visit with our residents and learn something new about them....and Stevie does a nice job of engaging them in conversation.

📗This day, Addie, was recalling her days of working at Minot State University as a secretary for W.D. "Doc" Allen. Addie commented that she enjoyed working at Minot State and that her office in Old Main had a great view of the campus.
Taking time to know our residents is a key factor in caring for our residents here at MBH.

✝️ Katie use Psalm 95: 1-2. For the call to worship for our residents last Thursday morning. As she stood, the beauty of the stain glass window made for a beautiful backdrop. As many of you know, Katie is still a seminary student studying to become a pastor, Katie currently serves at American Lutheran. Katie has already developed a reputation for bringing joy, compassion, thoughtful reflection and her gift of music wherever she is serving.

✝️ The chapel was filled with anticipation. Some residents say in wheelchairs, others in comfortable chairs. Katie had been warmly smiling since she entered the chapel. She knew that many of them had spent decades singing hymns in churches, and she wanted this service to be both meaning and uplifting.

✝️ Katie sat at the keyboard and for the opening hymn played "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty " As the familiar words filled the chapel, residents began singing with remarkable enthusiasm.

✝️ After the hymn Katie read from
Psalm 8: "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" She spoke about the wonder of God's creation and how the Psalm reminds us that every person has value in God's eyes.

✝️ Katie did a beautiful job on this chapel service. Those of us who witnessed Katie's service left with more than a pleasant morning of worship. We left with confidence in her future.

✝️ Thank you, Katie, for this beautiful worship of verses and hymns.

Aug 2-8 is National Health Center Week!

Each August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Health Center Week (NHCW) to celebrate and increase awareness of America’s 1,512 Community Health Centers (CHCs) — including Mountrail County Health Center!

This week, we celebrate the commitment and passion of the patients, staff, board members, and supporters who make it possible to provide comprehensive healthcare services to our community.

🌹MBH was gifted a beautiful cast of flowers from our local Cash Wise Foods, creating the perfect opportunity for a special pop-up flower arranging activity. This generous donation orchestrated by Doreen, Gina and Christina included several boxes of flowers. Upon arrival the stunning roses in shades of red, pink, yellow, orange, white and coral were trimmed and place in pails along with other fill in flowers.

🥀Our residents are no strangers to the art of flower arranging. Many had enjoyed the hobby through their lives, and in visiting with residents about activities they would like...flower arranging was near the top. Over the years we have featured several flower shows. The enthusiasm was evident the moment the first buckets arrived at the activity tables. As the colorful flowers were displayed, residents eagerly gathered around and immediately began creating beautiful arrangements. They instantly thought of of residents who would appreciate an arrangement and went to work.

🌹To accommodate the activity, a collection of 27 vases was brought out of storage. The assortment included clear vases, deep-colored vessels, and welcoming round vases with ample room for floral creations.

🥀The room buzzed with conversation, laughter, and memories as residents shared flower-arranging tips and admired one another's work. The room was alive..such a joy to see.
When all was said and done, the beautiful creation brought joy far beyond the activity room. Many arrangements were given to residents to brighten their rooms, while others were placed throughout the home's public areas, adding warmth, color, and a welcoming touch for everyone to enjoy.

🌹This does not happen without generous hearts and hands. Thank you, Doreen, Gina, and Christina from Cash Wise Foods for thinking of our residents and to Cash Wise Foods for these lovely flowers. Many thanks to Carolyn Feldman, who helped prepare the flowers and assisted residents in arranging. Thank you to my wife, Jan, a forever flower admirer and creative soul for assisting her husband in "petaling" out of this colorful situation.
