There's something about their handwriting that no photo can replace. The grocery list, the birthday card, the recipe scribbled in the margin. Here are five simple ways to keep their words close:

1. Frame a handwritten note or recipe card
2. Scan their letters so they're preserved forever
3. Order a piece of jewelry engraved with their handwriting
4. Print a favorite recipe on a tea towel or cutting board
5. Turn their signature into a keepsake ornament

Some are free, some are small splurges, but all of them turn a few written words into something you can hold onto.

There's a whole world inside the people who raised us. First loves, hard decisions, the stories behind the old photographs. We always assume we'll have time to ask. And then one day, the asking isn't possible anymore. So ask now. Pull up a chair this weekend and let them talk.

What's the difference between a funeral, a memorial, and a celebration of life? It's one of the most common questions families ask us, and understanding it can make a hard decision feel a little clearer.

A funeral is traditionally held within a few days of passing, and often follows a more formal or religious structure.

A memorial service takes place later, sometimes days, weeks, or even months after, which allows more flexibility on timing and location.

A celebration of life is usually less formal and more personal. The focus shifts from mourning the loss to honoring the life: the laughter, the passions, the moments that made them them.

There's no "right" choice. There's only the one that feels true to the person you're honoring. And whatever you choose, we're here to help you create it.

Sometimes the grief begins before the goodbye. When the conversations get shorter. When you catch yourself missing them while they're still sitting right in front of you. It has a name, anticipatory grief, and if you're feeling it, you're not doing anything wrong. You're loving someone enough to ache at the thought of losing them. Be gentle with yourself.

One day, the people you love most will be asked to make decisions about you, in the middle of their grief, when thinking clearly feels impossible. Pre-planning lifts that weight. It means that when the time comes, they won't have to wonder what you would have wanted, or whether they got it "right." They'll simply get to remember you.

Summer is full of gatherings. Cookouts, reunions, holidays.

But when someone's missing from the table, those moments can feel heavier than they used to.

If you're dreading an empty chair this summer, you're not alone.

It's okay to feel joy and grief at the same time. It's okay to talk about them. It's okay to set a place for them, even if it stays empty.

However you get through it, that's enough.

To the dads, stepdads, grandpas, and father figures who shaped us.

The ones who showed up. The ones who taught us. The ones who loved us in their own way.

And to those missing their father today, we're thinking of you too.

Happy Father's Day 💙

Summer goes fast. Here are a few things worth making time for:

1. A slow morning with no plans
2. A road trip, even a short one
3. Dinner outside with people you love
4. A phone call instead of a text
5. The recipe you've been meaning to try
6. A photo you'll be glad you took
7. A conversation that goes deeper than "how are you"

What's on your summer bucket list? ☀️
