Deep Tissue/body work, is a wonderful addition to massage! Many of my clients love that option! Lately I’ve been hearing some horror stories of people going to get deep tissue, and something bad happens, or they can’t move well after the work!
1. Make sure your client is certified in deep tissue/ body work!
2. Are elbows & forearms/ tools being used? That’s great, however they need to make sure they are palpating the origin and insertion points of the muscles before getting in there to dig bc they can easily damage soft tissue, nerves, surrounding structures! They also need to be aware of your breathing & when to take a break!!
3. It’s very important to note how Long they are spending time on that particular area! Too long and the problem isn’t solved, sometimes worse!
4. Are you impatient where you want to get to business fast with deep tissue? Remember, everything needs to warm up, fascia needs to be moved & inflammation noted & cleared.
some people love pain, but is deep/pain really getting the actual job done? Not necessarily. There are layers and trigger points and they take time to release.
Anyway…just my tips for the day!
