25 Years. Countless Stories. 💙

Today, we’re sharing the story of a resident who experienced Courage Cottage firsthand.

Giving up some independence and accepting help from others can be difficult. Sometimes, it takes a gentle nudge from the people who love us most to accept the care we need.

But sometimes, that first step leads to something unexpected—a place that feels like home.

“At first I was afraid and confused... now I like it here!” —D. Maus & her children

This is the heart of Courage Cottage.
It’s meeting people where they are. It’s offering care with patience and empathy. And it’s creating an environment where residents can still feel independent, valued, known and loved—even when life looks a little different than it once did.

Because at Courage Cottage, care is about more than meeting needs. It’s about helping people find joy in the journey, wherever that journey takes them. 💙

25 years of Compassion. Community. Care.

Courage Cottage is more than a place. It's a feeling. 💙

It's the comfort of knowing someone you love is cared for. It's a familiar smile. A conversation. A hand to hold. A meal shared. A memory made.

It's knowing that when families can't do everything themselves, they don't have to.

For 25 years, Courage Cottage has been part of our community—and its story has been written by the many residents, families, caregivers, volunteers and supporters who have walked through its doors.

25 years of Compassion. Community. Care.

25 Years. Countless Stories. 💙

As we celebrate 25 years of Courage Cottage, some of the most meaningful stories come from the families who have experienced its care firsthand.

Today, we’re honored to share the words of a daughter whose mother spent her final chapter at Courage Cottage. Her story is a beautiful reminder that compassionate care is found not only in the big moments, but in the little things that make someone feel known, safe and loved.

“Dementia steals so much of our loved ones. Taking the time to understand her.....I will always be thankful mom spent this chapter of her life in a place where she was truly cared for and loved.” -A. Solvie

This is the heart of Courage Cottage.
Seeing the person—not just the illness. Knowing the little things that bring comfort. Remembering who someone has always been, even when dementia has taken so much away.

For 25 years, Courage Cottage has been honored to walk alongside residents and families through these deeply meaningful chapters of life.

🩵 The Good Day Guide • August 2026

Summer can feel like a season of go, go, go—but taking care of your mental health doesn't always mean adding another activity to your list.

Sometimes, a good mental reset can be as simple as slowing down and being present.
☀️ Try a 10-minute “just be” break:
• Find a comfortable spot—outside is even better.
• Take a few slow breaths.
• Notice what you can see, hear and feel.
• Let your thoughts come and go without trying to fix them.
• Don't worry about doing it “right.” Simply notice what is happening in this moment.
• Give yourself permission to do nothing for a few minutes.

Research suggests that mindfulness may support stress resilience, attention and mood—and practicing mindfulness outdoors may offer additional benefits.

Rest doesn't always have to be productive. Sometimes, being present is enough. 💙
Take a few minutes today to pause, breathe and simply be where you are.
