📚✨ Back-to-school season is here… and teachers everywhere are getting ready to use one of their most important tools: their voice!
Between classroom discussions, reading aloud, managing a busy room, and answering “one more question” all day long, your voice works HARD.

If you’ve noticed your voice feeling tired by the end of the day, frequent hoarseness, a scratchy throat, or that you just can’t project like you used to, don’t ignore those signs. Voice concerns are common in educators, but they’re also treatable!

We’re resharing this blog because your voice deserves just as much care as the students you pour into every day. 💙

Here’s to a school year filled with healthy voices, confident communication, and fewer “I can barely talk by Friday” moments!

If your voice has been struggling (or typically does during the school year), our speech therapy team is here to help. 🎤

Back in April, Sarah and our favorite office assistant attended the 2026 Movement Disorder Seminar hosted by St. Joseph's/Candler . We had so much fun making new connections and reconnecting with old ones. We have a special community in southeast Georgia!

We cherish the opportunity to provide support to those living with Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders in our community. Let us know in the comments what kinds of resources would be helpful for you and your family!

Insurance can be confusing…we get it.

One of the most common questions we hear is, “How much will therapy cost with my insurance?”

The honest answer is that insurance benefits can be complicated, and sometimes even the information we receive from insurance companies isn't finalized until claims are processed.

That's why we created a new page on our website to help explain how therapy benefits work, what deductibles, copays, and coinsurance mean, and why your actual responsibility may differ from the estimate you receive.

Our goal is to help you feel informed and confident before starting therapy, not overwhelmed by insurance jargon.

If you've ever had questions about therapy coverage, visit our new Insurance Questions page and learn more:

And as always, if you still have questions, our team is here to help. We believe healthcare should feel human, not confusing.

🌿 Pollen season is here… is your voice feeling it too?

If you’ve noticed more hoarseness, throat clearing, or vocal fatigue lately, you’re not alone. Allergies can take a real toll on your voice!

Here are 5 simple tips to keep your voice healthy during pollen season:

✨ 1. Hydrate (more than you think you need)
Allergies + antihistamines can dry out your vocal cords. Keep water with you and sip consistently throughout the day.
✨ 2. Limit throat clearing
That constant “ahem” irritates your vocal cords. Try a sip of water, a gentle swallow, or a quiet cough instead.
✨ 3. Manage allergy symptoms early
Stay consistent with your allergy routine to reduce inflammation that affects your voice.
✨ 4. Use a humidifier
Adding moisture to the air can help soothe dry, irritated vocal cords—especially at night.
✨ 5. Give your voice breaks
If your voice feels strained, don’t push through it. Short periods of vocal rest can prevent bigger issues.

💡 Bonus tip: If your voice stays hoarse for more than 2–3 weeks, it’s worth getting it checked out!

Your voice matters. Protect it this season.

Voice changes after 60? Read this!

We often hear:

“My voice just isn’t as strong as it used to be.”

While aging can affect the vocal cords (hello, presbyphonia), a weak or breathy voice can impact:

✔ Being heard in conversation
✔ Confidence
✔ Social engagement
✔ Even swallowing safety

And here’s the good news:

Your voice is a muscle system. Muscles can be strengthened.

Our speech therapy team works on:
🎤 Vocal strength
🫁 Breath support
🧠 Neurological coordination
🗣 Communication clarity

You deserve to be heard — at every age.

Send this to someone who says, “What?” every time you speak to them 😉
