Here's something I think about a lot.

Our brains love certainty.

Not because certainty is always good...

Because it's efficient.

Your brain is constantly trying to predict what's going to happen next.

Sometimes that means we stay in jobs that drain us.

Relationships that don't fit.

Habits we don't even like anymore.

Not because they're healthy.

Because they're familiar.

Growth almost always asks us to tolerate uncertainty long enough for something new to become familiar.

That's uncomfortable.

But it's also where change starts.

Attachment gets talked about a lot on social media.

Sometimes a little too much....

Attachment isn't about putting people into boxes.

It's about understanding how our earliest relationships helped shape what we expect from other people.

Do we expect people to stay?

Do we expect conflict to mean abandonment?

Do we feel safe asking for help?

These expectations aren't permanent.

They're patterns.

And patterns can change through healthy relationships, self-awareness, and experiences that consistently challenge what we've learned to expect.

I think that's one of the most hopeful parts of therapy.

We're not trying to erase your past.

We're helping create new experiences that your brain can learn from.

Have you ever noticed that when you're overwhelmed, even simple decisions feel exhausting?

That's not laziness.

Stress changes the way your brain functions.

When we're under chronic stress, our brains naturally shift resources toward surviving what's happening right now.

Things like planning ahead, organizing, remembering details, and controlling impulses often become harder because those are executive functions that don't work as efficiently when we're constantly under pressure.

That's why "just try harder" usually isn't very helpful advice.

Sometimes the first step isn't increasing productivity.

It's reducing the amount of stress your brain is trying to manage.

One of my favorite things about neuroscience!

Your brain is designed to change.

Neuroplasticity your brain's ability to strengthen connections, weaken others, and adapt based on what you repeatedly experience.

That also explains why healing can feel so frustrating.

If you've spent years expecting criticism, your brain gets really efficient at spotting it.

If you've spent years believing you have to earn your worth, your brain gets really good at reinforcing that belief.

The good news?

The same brain that learned those patterns can learn new ones.
That doesn't happen because someone tells you to "think positive."

It happens through repeated experiences that challenge old patterns and build new ones over time.

That's one of the reasons therapy isn't just talking.

It's practice.

Before tomorrow starts...

Take five minutes.

Not to plan your week.
Not to answer emails.

Just to notice how you're actually feeling.

We spend so much time checking our calendars that we forget to check in with ourselves.

Sometimes that five-minute pause tells us more than an entire to-do list ever could.

I hope you find a little space for yourself today.

Lately I've been spending a lot of time thinking about workplaces.

Not just because I'm expanding into organizational consultation, but because work takes up such a huge part of our lives.

Mental health doesn't magically stop at the office door.

The conversations we have.
The support we receive.
Whether we feel respected.
Whether we feel psychologically safe.

Those things follow us home.

I don't think healthy workplaces and good mental health are separate conversations.

I think they're the same conversation.

Continuing to grow so I can better serve the people who trust me with their stories.

I’m excited to share that I’ve earned my Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 (CCTP-II) certification.

Trauma work is constantly evolving, and I believe it should. The more we understand how trauma impacts the brain, body, relationships, identity, and everyday functioning, the better we can help people move beyond just surviving.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to be part of your journey. It’s a privilege I never take for granted, and I’m committed to continuing to learn, grow, and bring that knowledge back into my work.

Here’s to continuing the work of helping people move from surviving to living.

I don't think therapy is about someone giving you answers.

If it were, Google would have replaced all of us years ago.

Most of the people I work with are smart.

They've read the books.
Listened to the podcasts.
They know the coping skills.
The hard part isn't usually knowing.

It's understanding why something keeps happening even when you know better.

That's where the work gets interesting.

How healthy is your workplace...really?

When people think about workplace wellbeing, burnout is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But burnout is only one piece of the picture.

The way we experience work is shaped by so much more. Stress, executive functioning, compassion fatigue, leadership, organizational support, and how well a workplace responds to challenges all play a role in our overall wellbeing.

That's why I created the Transcendia Workplace Wellbeing Assessment.

This free assessment is designed to help you better understand your workplace experience by looking at six key areas that influence both individual and organizational wellbeing. At the end, you'll receive personalized results that highlight your strengths, identify potential areas of concern, and offer practical recommendations for moving forward.

Whether you're an employee, leader, business owner, healthcare professional, educator, or simply curious about your own workplace wellbeing, I hope you'll find it to be a helpful starting point.
