💙 Please join Laurel Glen in welcoming Gene and Nita to our community!

We are delighted to welcome this wonderful couple to the Laurel Glen family. Both proud Texans, Gene and Nita bring with them a rich history of service, education, adventure, and dedication to others.

Nita built a meaningful career with Lone Star Gas Company, Hillcrest High School, and the Business Magnet Program. Gene is a decorated United States Navy veteran who served aboard the USS St. Paul during the Korean War. He later worked in education as a plastics instructor and administrator at Skyline High School, while also using the electrical skills he gained during his military service.

Together, Gene and Nita have enjoyed a lifetime of travel, including trips to Japan and throughout the Pacific. They even celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii! One especially fascinating fact about Nita is that she is the eighth great-niece of George Washington and is also related to Daniel Boone.

We are honored to have Gene and Nita as part of our community and look forward to making many wonderful memories with them. Welcome home! 🏡✨

🍽️🥧 The Lunch Bunch had a delicious time dining at our local Peacock’s Restaurant!

Residents especially loved the chicken-fried steak and, of course, the incredible pie. With wonderful food, exceptional service, and great company, it was a fun outing filled with smiles and laughter! ❤️

🌟 We are thrilled to recognize Betty as July’s Resident Spotlight!

Betty is a proud transplant Texan who was born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico. She attended Eastern New Mexico University, where she studied accounting and finance, and went on to dedicate many years of her career to serving at the TTU Reese National Security Complex in Lubbock, Texas, as well as working with the United States Air Force in accounting and finance. What an impressive legacy of commitment and expertise!

Betty is also a seasoned traveler who has explored Hawaii, Europe, and the Far East, collecting stories and experiences from around the world. Most of all, she loves being around people, making new friends, and sharing good conversation.

Betty brings so much warmth to our community, and we are grateful to celebrate her this month! 💛

💛 Join Laurel Glen in welcoming Elene to our community!

A local Texan, Elene has lived in Brady, Fort Worth, and Palo Pinto County. She dedicated much of her career to education, shaping young minds as a teacher, principal, and vice principal, as well as helping hire talented educators to guide students throughout their academic journeys.

Elene earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from TCU and received her administrator certification from NTSU. She also loves to travel and has visited 47 out of 50 states, along with many places around the world, including Mexico, Canada, Egypt, Israel, Africa, and more.

A special fun fact about Elene is that her father, Frank, was a decorated Army Ranger who was wounded on D-Day and is honored each year with a special day in Brady, Texas.

We are so excited to welcome Elene and look forward to making new memories with her at Laurel Glen!
