Did you know? Skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes are not quite the same.

Skilled nursing provides physician-directed medical care and rehabilitation after an illness, injury, or surgery. Nursing homes primarily provide ongoing help with daily living.

Skilled nursing stays are often short-term and recovery-focused (though can be ongoing to treat chronic conditions,) while nursing home care is usually long-term.

At Medilodge of Sterling Heights, it’s rewarding to see residents make progress toward their rehabilitation goals. Due to multiple medical issues, Sam has been in and out of the hospital. Most recently, he returned back to our building in April. Now with Sam being in a more stable condition and feeling better, he has been motivated to work with Physical & Occupational Therapy! Through dedication, consistency, and support from our Physical and Occupational Therapy teams, residents can continue building strength, mobility, and independence each day. We’re proud to be part of their journey and look forward to supporting their continued progress.

Last week, MediLodge of Sterling Heights proudly celebrated Nurses Week by recognizing the incredible nurses and staff members who make a difference in the lives of our residents every single day. 💚

From awards and celebrations to delicious food, decorations, and plenty of smiles, it was a wonderful week spent showing appreciation for the hard work, compassion, and dedication our team brings to the facility each day.
