Another great publication featuring a collaboration between The CATS Lab in the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine and the Sue VandeWoude Research Group in the CSU College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences!

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes progressive immune dysfunction in cats similar to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in humans. Although combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) is effective against HIV, there is no definitive therapy to improve clinical outcomes in cats with FIV. This s...

Congrats to Pabasara Weerarathne and the rest of the CATS Lab on publishing this exciting manuscript! This cutting-edge vaccine prototype has the potential to protect a lot of cats from Cytauxzoonosis (bobcat fever)!

Cytauxzoonosis is caused by Cytauxzoon felis (C. felis), a tick-borne parasite that causes severe disease in domestic cats in the United States. Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent this fatal disease, as traditional vaccine development strategies have been limited by the inability to culture t...

The CATS Lab at Oklahoma State University is featured in several articles in this year's Vet Cetera magazine by the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine! We are incredibly proud of our CATS lab members Miruthula Tamilselvan for her fellowship award, and thankful for all our collaborators for their help in studying COVID-19 in our feline model! This has been an outstanding year and we are so lucky to have an amazing research team!

Congrats to Miruthula Tamil Selvan of the CATS Lab and the rest of our team on publishing our recent study on SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant in domestic cats!

Continued emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants highlights the critical need for adaptable and translational animal models for acute COVID-19. Limitations to current animal models for SARS CoV-2 (e.g., transgenic mice, non-human primates, ferrets) include subclinical to mild lower respiratory disease, di...
