EMDR and Brainspotting both treat trauma. But they work differently.
One uses rhythmic eye movement. The other finds a fixed point where distress is being held and stays there.
Neither asks you to relive everything out loud. Both reach things that talk therapy sometimes can't.
Not sure which one is right for you? That's a fine place to start.

Some things don't get better just from talking about them.
That's not a reflection of how hard you've tried. It's just how certain experiences get stored in the brain. And it's exactly what EMDR was designed for.

You don't have to relive everything. You don't have to tell the whole story. The process works differently from regular therapy, and for a lot of people, that difference is what finally makes things shift.
If something has been staying with you longer than it should, this is worth a conversation.

Vantage offers EMDR and ART in Stillwater, Edina, St. Anthony, and via telehealth across Minnesota.

Something worth sharing.

Our Edina clinic received its first shipment of state-funded Narcan through the Minnesota Department of Human Services program.
Narcan reverses opioid overdoses. Having it available in a mental health clinic matters. Substance use and mental health are rarely separate conversations. The people we see every day know that better than anyone.

If you or someone you know could use a kit, reach out.

Most people think family therapy is just a big confrontation, but it’s usually not like that. No one is sitting there deciding who’s right or wrong.
It’s more about noticing what keeps happening between you, the same arguments, the same silence, the things that don’t quite get said. Over time, you start to see those patterns more clearly, and small things begin to shift.
A conversation lands differently, someone feels heard, something that used to escalate doesn’t.
You don’t have to wait for things to fall apart to start. Sometimes it’s just that you care about each other, but something isn’t working, and you want a better way through it.

How do you actually know if therapy is working?

Or if you’re even with the right therapist?

A lot of people sit with these questions quietly.
Not sure what’s “normal,” what to expect, or whether to say something.

Anna walks through a few simple ways to think about this, from what to notice early on to what it means to feel supported in the room.

If you’ve ever left a session wondering “is this helping?”… this might give you some clarity.

Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming.

How do you know if someone is the right fit for you?
What should you actually be paying attention to?

It’s not just about credentials or approach.
It’s also about how the space feels and whether you feel understood.

This breaks down what “fit” really means and how to recognize it.

Thinking about stopping your medication?

It’s a lot more common than people talk about.
Especially when you start feeling better… or the side effects get frustrating.

But what happens next isn’t always what people expect.

Lauren Nevinski, Psychiatric PA at Vantage Mental Health, explains why stopping suddenly can sometimes make symptoms feel worse and how to approach it in a safer, more supported way.

If this has been on your mind, this is worth understanding.

People often ask this before starting therapy.

“Is it just talking?”

It can look that way from the outside.
But therapy is usually doing more than it seems.

It’s understanding patterns, building new ways to respond, and noticing small shifts over time that start to add up.

If you’ve been curious about what really happens, this carousel walks you through it.

Starting therapy doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with you. It often means something deserves attention.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative, evidence-based process that helps you understand your experiences, build coping tools, and create meaningful change at your own pace.
If you’re new to therapy, your first session is about orientation and understanding, not having everything figured out.

That’s where the work begins.
