I have been living with PCOS for nearly 20 years and I am so grateful that more women are willing to share their experiences about this invisible hormonal disorder that affects 1 in 10 women.
For women who have PCOS and are expecting, you are at a greater risk for postpartum depression, postpartum hypertension, postpartum psychosis and postpartum cardiomyopathy.
Things to do before you give birth:
•Speak with your care team and your birth doula about any concerns you are feeling about your birth.
•Keep all appointments, schedule future appointments and assemble your support team.
•Established your postpartum plan that includes listing any medications you are currently taking, important numbers to your personal and professional support team, and identify resources in the event crisis intervention is needed.
•A high risk pregnancy comes with additional emotional triggers that are highly unexpected. By hiring a postpartum doula to help you with your healing, cook nutritious meals and offer support for you to properly rest and sleep, your postpartum doula will be there to help identify these areas where your care team is needed.
If you have any questions about living with PCOS, pregnant with PCOS, or PCOS in general, my DM’s are open. 💚💙💚
