There is a space between your conscious witnessing capacity and your thoughts, and we forget it is there.
What happens is that we experience whatever is arising, emotion, feeling, thought, memory, image, in the subtle bodies, and we think that is what or who we are.
I am that emotion right now. I am that thought right now.
Imagine if it is a negative thought about the self coming from an old redundant belief system, or a message transmitted through the ancestors that was really meant to motivate us but actually hurts us now, because we have outgrown that message.
When we can practice witnessing what is arising, we have space.
Space to mobilize witnessing consciousness and curiosity without judgment.
And now we are in creativity.
In terms of neuroscience, we are actually building new networks.
We are creating new aligned narratives that are aligned with the reality of who we are right now in the world, not that younger self, not that self that experienced great trauma or injury, but that aligned captain of the ship, in control of one's life, managing one's emotions, and really at the helm.
We learn this on the mat in Yoga Nidra, and then we take it into everyday life as micro-practices as we walk through our day.
